Pura Tanah Lot is one of the many active Hindu temples in Bali<\/a>. It is part of a complex consisting of seven places of worship located<\/a> in the ocean. They were built in such a way that being in the same temple you can see its two closest neighbors. Translated from the Balinese language, Tanah Lot means “land in the sea.” Indeed, the religious building is located on a rock surrounded by ocean waters and you can get into it only when the tide is out. It is a symbol of Bali and one of the main attractions<\/a> of this amazing and popular island<\/a> among travel<\/a>ers. It is also one of the revered shrines in the lands of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Its first tier was carved into the rock and has a rather modest decoration. The second is built in the traditional Indian style, it is an altar. All rooms of the religious building are like a sacred pagoda, which personifies Mount Meru, glorified in many Hindu religious legends<\/a>, where the highest deities live. This temple was built in honor of the goddess of the sea<\/a>, named Betare Tenga Segare, but the complex itself is decorated with images of many Hindu gods, such as:<\/p>\n

According to another version, the Brahmin saw the outgoing divine light coming from the spring, located at the foot of the rock, and arrived in this area.
