The US state of Wyoming is famous for<\/a> its natural attractions<\/a>. One of them is Grand Teton National Park<\/a>. The picturesque landscapes of untouched, wild nature are very attractive for tour<\/a>ists. A lot of hiking trails<\/a> and roads, laid especially for travel<\/a>ers, help to see<\/a> the local beauty. Hotels<\/a> located<\/a> in the thickets of the forest, at the foot of the mountains, on the banks of reservoirs, have a calm, relax<\/a>ing, away from megacities<\/a>, in the fresh air.<\/p>\n

In the center<\/a> of the park, among the mountains, at an altitude of 2067m above sea<\/a> level, Lake Jenny is located. It was formed about 12 thousa<\/a>nd years ago in the process of melting glaciers. The depth in some places<\/a> reaches 129 meters. The water here is exceptional, the lake is one of the ten cleanest water bodies on our plane<\/a>t.<\/p>\n

Why is the lake named Jenny<\/h2>\n

The reservoir got its name as a result of a beautiful love story of the British pioneer scientist Richard Lee for a girl from the Shoshone Indian tribe, which then ruled these lands. Jenny became Richard's wife, helped her husband and his companions in resea<\/a>rch. Until the 19th century, Indian tribes roamed these mountain ranges, engaged in hunting and fishing.<\/p>\n

Fishing on the lake is worthy of special attention. There are more than fifty species of fish here. A lot of trout, this confirms that the water is really very clean. In 2005, it even underwent a serious chemical analysis.<\/p>\n

Wild animals can be found behind any tree. Guides warn that along with tourists<\/a> walking<\/a> along the trails, huge bears sometimes also inspect the surroundings. To the north, Cottonwood Creek flows into the lake. From a bird's eye view, its mouth resembles the head of the Loch Ness Monster. A magnificent footbridge<\/a> was built from the “breast of Nesya”. There is a boat station here. Jenny is one of the few bodies of water in the park where motorboats are allowed. Therefore, tour<\/a>ists can admire the amazing pictures from the middle of the lake without spending a lot of effort.<\/p>\n

In addition, another surprise<\/a> awaits them. In addition to the incomparable views of the cliffs, “looking” into the mirror of water, there is an amazing waterfall at the end of the path. It is created by the Cascade stream, which flows into the lake from the west. The unusual sight and sound of seething water falling over the ledges, the freshness of the air create an indescribable feeling.<\/p>\n

And those who decide to walk along the west coast should work hard. The road lies on a hilly area<\/a>, and, in some places, you have to make your way through rocky ledges. Rising a little to the right of the lake, travel<\/a>ers pass through the stunning surroundings of Hidden Falls. Further, along the Cascade canyon, a whole cascade of waterfalls sharpens the rocks, ending in Jenny. Anyone who has been here will leave centuries-old pine trees in their memories, and white water beating against the rapids, making a unique sound.<\/p>\n

Climbing further south along the ridge, tourists<\/a> get to the observation deck, which offers an excellent view not only of the lake and mountains. You can see Hanging Canyon from here. In autumn, these places are especially beautiful. The dark blue sky descends not just to the ground, but below, under the surface of the water. The forest<\/a>, “dressed” in gold and crimson, against the background of darkened mountains, is also repeated in a mirror image. Among the evergreen pines, bright red bushes come across, the grass between the stones is pale yellow. The air is already quite cold, but filled with the heady aroma of autumn.<\/p>\n

It won't be long before a long, hard winter sets in. The lake will be covered with a thick layer of ice, everything around will turn white. But the local landscapes from this will not become less attractive. Skiing<\/a> and snowmobiling will also be a pleasure for those who appreciate the cold silence of snow-covered mountains and majestic pines. Moreover, the local winter landscapes are not so lifeless. There are trails of moose famous for their size. At this time of the year they just migrate through these places. Meeting with such large animals will bring pleasant moments, especially since they are practically not afraid of people.<\/p>\n

Climate<\/h2>\n

The climate in Grand Teton Park is quite harsh. Winter lasts from late September to early May. Nighttime temperatures are very different from daytime temperatures. In addition, in the mountains with every 300m it drops by 1\u00b0C. Particularly high passes may remain covered with snow until mid-July<\/a>. Often there are thunderstorms in the mountains. This gives additional charm to the lake in early summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tourists love this park very much. This National Park is one of the most visited in the USA<\/a>. On average, 2.5 million people visit here every year. None of them remains indifferent to the incomparable views of the local nature. And those who were on Jenny Lake will forever leave unforgettable impressions of the trip in their hearts.<\/p>\n
