In Milan, the flow of tour<\/a>ists is quite large. Entrepreneurs, shopaholics and just sightseeing<\/a> lovers flood the city<\/a> in droves. And this is not surprising, because Milan is the capital of fashion, shopping<\/a>, luxury, bus<\/a>iness and beautiful life. It is not surprising that there are as many as three airports here.<\/p>\n

Malpensa<\/a> Airport (MXP)<\/h2>\n

The full name is “Milan-Malpensa”. This is an international airport, paramount and most impressive in size among the trio. In addition, it is the busiest airport in Italy<\/a>, both in terms of passenger and car<\/a>go transport<\/a>ation. It is located<\/a> in the city of Varese, 45 km north<\/a> of the center<\/a> of Milan. It used to be called “Busto Arsizio”.<\/p>\n

Terminals<\/h3>\n

Malpensa has 2 terminals: T1 and T2.<\/p>\n

T1 operates with regular flights. There are three zones in this terminal: 1-A, 1-B and 1-C. Zone A is design<\/a>ed to work with flights within the Schengen area and domestic; B deals with flights to countries<\/a> outside<\/a> the Schengen area<\/a> and transcontinental; C – performs the same functionality as zone B.<\/p>\n

T2 serves charters and budget airlines. Began to function before T1.<\/p>\n

Both terminals operate around the clock. The distance between them is several kilometers, in connection with this, free shuttle buses run on the route<\/a>. This transport operates in the same way as the terminals – around the clock, and the road between the points takes about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

Bergamo Airport (BGY)<\/h2>\n

The airport also has a second name – Orio al Serio (named after Caravaggio). It is the second largest air hub belonging to Milan. Just like Malpensa, it is located outside of Milan, more precisely, 45 km from its center<\/a>. From Bergamo itself (the center of Lombardy), the airport is 5 km away.<\/p>\n

Specializes in low-cost air transportation within Europe<\/a>, as well as local flights and cargo operations. Due to its specialization in low-cost airlines, Bergamo is less comfortable than Malpensa, but no less in demand. Among other things, many charters with skiers fly here in winter.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure<\/h3>\n

As already mentioned, the airport cannot boast of VIP comfort, the infrastructure here is rather modest. It has only one terminal at its disposal. It's pretty hard to spend more than three hours in a building. If you have a long wait for a transfer<\/a>, then the best option would be to rent a hotel room.<\/p>\n

Linate Airport (LIN)<\/h2>\n

This air hub, unlike its two counterpart<\/a>s, is located directly in Milan, just 8 km from its center. Quite a small airport, modest and unpretentious, but very comfortable and cozy. Linate specializes in short national, intra-European and budget messages.<\/p>\n

In Milan, there is almost the same name neighborhood. In order not to get confused yourself and not to mislead the taxi<\/a> driver, it would be best to tell him that you need the airport named after E. Forlanini.<\/p>\n
