There are natural objects that are impossible to admire: at any time of the year they give so many unforgettable exciting impressions that you want to return to them again and again. Such a real pearl of Canada is a unique<\/a> lake with a gentle romantic name Louise.<\/p>\n

History<\/a> of the lake<\/h2>\n

The lake of magic<\/a>al beauty was formed over the millennia as a result of the melting of the glaciers of the Rocky Mountains: jets of glacial water flowed from them, washing away the grains of rock and accumulated in a deep depression surrounded by a ring of peaks. So, gradually filling with melt water, a wonderful lake of unusually bluish-green color was formed, for which it was first called Emerald. Apparently, pieces of rocks, dissolving in water, made it look like this precious gem. The wonderful lake is quite small: its area is 0.8 sq. km., length – 2 km., width – half a kilometer.<\/p>\n

The lake has long been familiar to the natives of Canada. When in the late 80s of the 19th century the KTR (Canadian Pacific Railway) was being laid in the vicinity, the builders heard a dull monotonous noise not far away. The origin of the strange hum was explained by the Indian guide, who said that it comes from the “white mountain” located<\/a> near the “lake with small fish.” Seriously interest<\/a>ed, engineer Wilson and his colleagues went to the indicated landmarks and saw an incredibly beautiful picture of the lake. For several minutes they did not utter a word: silent admiration for the surrounding landscape seized all those present.<\/p>\n

The emerald mirror of water, sparkling with pristine purity, was surrounded by snow-white peaks and dark green velvet of coniferous forest<\/a>s on their slopes. The discovery of an amazing reservoir by Europe<\/a>ans was significant: the lake became the most popular place for Canadians to visit and a natural gem of Banff National Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Why was the lake renamed?<\/h2>\n

The current name went to him on behalf of the beautiful and clever girl, the daughter of the famous English Queen Victoria, whose reign was dubbed the “Victorian era”. The English princess was as smart and progressive as her mother. As the wife of the Canadian governor – Englishman John Lorne, she actively part<\/a>icipated in the public life of the state, sensitively responded to the needs of the local population, trying to positively solve their problems.<\/p>\n

For this, Louise won the boundless love and deep respect of the people of Canada, although she lived here for only 5 years. Leaving the land of forest<\/a>s and mountains, the princess continued to be interested in his fate while in England. In memory of a wonderful woman, a collective decision was made to give her name to the most beautiful natural treasure of the country – a mountain lake.<\/p>\n

The ski resort, equipped with modern infrastructure, creates all the conditions for a wonderful holiday from November<\/a> to mid-May. Various holidays<\/a>, competitions, festivals are regularly held here, where not only ordinary tourists<\/a> come, but also world celebrities: Hollywood stars, musicians, singers, artists, writers, journalist<\/a>s.<\/p>\n

It is just as good here in spring: the awakening nature, the deep blue of the sky reflected in the lake, the bright green of the pine needles, the first flowers, the display of black grouse create a picture full of charm. When snow avalanches come down, dozens of climbers rush along the beaten paths to the peaks; lovers of water travel<\/a> make boat trips, go rafting; anglers have the opportunity to sit with fishing rods. All equipment can be rented without any problems.<\/p>\n
