It is well known that the Arc de Triomphe is located in the French capital, however, few know that it is not the only one of its kind. The arch in Place Carruzel is next in recognizability to the one that towers majestically in Place de la Zvezda. In addition to them, there are a couple of similar buildings: the period of the reign of Louis XIV and La Defense. The arch in Carruzel Square is crowned by the chariot of Apollo, harnessed by four horses – an exact copy of the original antique relic. Initially, it was made in the Italian style. However, passing the century, thanks to the chief gardener of Louis XIV A. Lenotre, the garden has undergone changes. The Frenchman laid the foundation for a completely new direction in landscape design – regular parks. The new look of the garden was a perfect symmetry and proportions. All the planted flora was built in perfect lines, forming perfect geometric shapes. Green lawns are framed by impeccably straight rows of hedgerows and filigree trimmed chestnuts. The flowerbeds are designed in accordance with the overall design of the garden, and the alleys are decorated with beautiful sculptures.

Place de la Concorde

Today, this square is considered one of the most delightful squares in the capital of France.
