Tourism<\/a> taxes continue to rise. Once again, several countries have announced an increase in fees for tourists. This list included Spain, Italy<\/a>, the Netherlands<\/a>, Portugal<\/a>, Iceland, Denmark<\/a> and Indonesia. Before this, by the way, news about the increase in duties came from Greece. There new tariffs are in effect<\/a> from January 1.<\/p>\n

Netherlands<\/a><\/h3>\n

The tourist tax in Amsterdam is currently the highest in Europe. And in 2024, officials will almost double the tax on hotel rooms – from 7% to 12.5%. The daily rate for cruise<\/a> ship passengers will also increase from 8\u20ac to 11\u20ac per person.<\/p>\n

Spain<\/a><\/h3>\n

In Barcelona, \u200b\u200binstead of 2.75 \u20ac per night, tourists will pay 3.25 \u20ac. But only in the first seven days of your stay. In this way, local authorities want to show that they give preference to tourists who can afford to stay in the city for a long time.<\/p>\n

They are preparing to introduce a new tax in Valencia. Its size will be from 50 cents to 2\u20ac per night. The tax will be withheld for overnight stays in a hotel, campsite or other rented
\ntourist accommodation. The fee is valid for the entire region.<\/p>\n

Iceland<\/h3>\n

So Iceland will join the list of countries raising taxes this year. It has already been unequivocally decided that the government will introduce a tourist tax. However, the exact amount is still unknown.<\/p>\n

Porto<\/a> galia<\/h3>\n

In Portugal, the cost will increase in one region. Visitors to Olh\u00e3o will have to pay \u20ac2 per night during high season. During the rest of the year, the fee will be 1\u20ac.<\/p>\n

Italy<\/a><\/h3>\n

Venice authorities continue to address the difficulties that arise due to the influx of tourists through restrictions. So, from June 1 this year, tourist groups are allowed only in numbers of up to 25 people. Loudspeakers were also banned in the city center and on the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. In addition, tourists will have to pay 5 \u20ac for 30 consecutive days. However, the fee does not apply to children under 14 years of age.<\/p>\n

Denmark<\/h3>\n

Denmark plans to introduce a “passenger tax” on flights in 2025. Passengers will be charged around \u20ac8.4 for short flights, \u20ac32 for medium-haul flights and \u20ac51 for long-haul flights by 2030.<\/p>\n

Indonesia<\/a><\/h3>\n
