The capital of Saxony surprises some with its splendor, while others are repulsed by its excessive beauty – in any case, you will never leave there indifferent. After World War II, most of Dresden, especially the tourist<\/a> area, was completely rebuilt. The city is one large open-air museum of architecture. The density of tourist<\/a> attractions is off the charts.<\/p>\n

When I was exploring Dresden, I couldn\u2019t get rid of the thought of how cool it is for young artists, students, and all creative people to live there\u2014the flow of inspiration is inexhaustible. I\u2019ll list a few of the top places to visit, because I\u2019m sure that no matter what, you\u2019ll find something of your own there.<\/p>\n

Traditionally, it is worth starting your acquaintance with the city from the Old Town. There, like coins in a piggy bank, all the main attractions<\/a> shine and attract the eye: luxurious castles, museums, temples, exhibitions, the most beautiful streets and alleys of the Elbe Embankment.<\/p>\n

Zwinger<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Baroque pearl. Once upon a time they feasted there with all their might, held knightly tournaments<\/a> and holidays, but now it is a famous museum-palace, emblazoned on all postcards and magnets. The palace and park complex fascinates with its sophistication, scale, details and sculptures. There are several galleries and a museum inside. The Crown Gate deserves special mention – the central entrance to the palace, a very photogenic<\/a> place.<\/p>\n

Dresden Art Gallery<\/strong><\/h2>\n

No less famous than the Louvre or the Hermitage. It is there that the famous “Sistine Madonna”, painted by Raphael, is located. Rubens, Rembrandt, Titian and other artists will attract attention for a long time. Of course, it\u2019s worth setting aside at least a few hours for your visit, but even during a short visit you\u2019ll have time to be thoroughly inspired.<\/p>\n

Dresden Castle Residence<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Inside there are separate rooms for collections of weapons, engravings, coins, and jewelry. But the outside of the castle is no less interesting, especially for lovers of the Romanesque<\/a> style and eclecticism. The residence is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, and the spire of its watchtower is visible from almost any area of \u200b\u200bDresden.<\/p>\n

Hofkirche<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The largest temple in Saxony. Its shape resembles a ship. Inside the tomb of the rulers, as well as in the church, the heart of Augustus the Strong is kept in a copper capsule. There is a funny legend that says that the heart begins to beat when a pretty girl passes nearby; Augustus was also a ladies' man.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Panel<\/strong> ” Procession of Princes”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you walk around the center, you are unlikely to miss it. This is a Meissen porcelain panel that can be viewed as an exhibition piece, with every detail scrutinized. The work is made of mosaic, measuring 100 meters, and is located on the wall of the gallery on the street. Augustusstrasse. On the panel you can count 94 people: among them are the US<\/a> nobility and Saxon princes, as well as artisans, scientists, children – almost all male, along with some animals. Try to find the only girl depicted there.<\/p>\n

Gresser Garten<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dresden's largest park. In warm weather it is especially beautiful there: nature, ideal lawns, lawns, flowers, centuries-old trees, the Botanical Garden. The Dresden Zoo, popular among tourists, is also located there. From April to October, a children's railway operates in the park: you can admire the natural beauty from a steam locomotive. In the center of the Gresser Garten is the Summer Palace of the 17th century, made in the Baroque style; the park itself was once laid out around it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
