🏔️ Top 5 mountain routes near Tashkent

26

You leave noisy Tashkent and find yourself in the Tien Shan mountain complex. Green or snowy, with sheep and goats on the slopes, tulips and snowdrops in the meadows. For many hours you won't see a soul here. We have collected mountain places a few hours from Tashkent that you will remember for a long time.

In the mountains of Uzbekistan there are lavender and poppy fields, almond groves, coniferous forests and even the three-thousander Chimgan, which is not so difficult to climb. A trip to Tashkent will not be complete without a trip to the mountains. But first, let's take a step back.

These places cannot always be reached by car, and the journey on foot takes several hours or even days. It’s safe in the mountains – you’re unlikely to be attacked by wolves or people. But we do not recommend going without a guide. You can get lost or get into trouble, and it can be difficult to find you where there are no street names. There are many guides in Tashkent who will keep you company or share tips. Or you can consider ready-made tours to Uzbekistan. Tiqets.com will be able to organize such a trip.

Jade Lakes

Many Uzbeks admit that the trip here was the most impressive for them. These lakes are called jade for their amazing deep color. You need to leave early in the morning in pursuit of this beauty; the journey from Tashkent will take 4 hours. But we still include them in our list, because the journey is worth it!

Tavaxai Waterfall

Go to Tavaksay waterfall and as a bonus you will also see canyons. The journey there and back on foot will take almost the whole day, the length of the path is 18 km in both directions. But it’s easy to walk along it; there are no steep ascents or descents.

Amirsoy

Let's simplify the task a couple more points – and recommend you the Amirsoy resort. Just come by car and admire the mountains. Even in the spring they remain snowy. The resort has ski lifts, restaurants, a climbing wall, a ropes course and much more. You can also stay at a hotel here. A great place for a lazy holiday if you love mountains but don’t like walking on them.

Sinegorye

A very picturesque area on the border with Tajikistan. It is named Sinegorye for the color of its coniferous forests, but in general it is the Kuraminsky ridge.

Locals admit that the nature here is so unique that it is “as if they were not in Uzbekistan.” And in some ways you are right – along the road you will see signs “state border”. Be sure that the border guards will not allow you to accidentally run onto the mountainside of a neighboring country.

Pulakhtan Plateau

Not the easiest high-altitude trek deep into the Uzbek Tien Shan. It will not be possible to climb to an altitude of almost three kilometers in a day – the hike will last for two or three days. A large flat area in the mountains used to serve as a natural fortress. Many legends were born around it – for example, that it is a site for UFOs or Central Asian Shambhala. Come and put forward your own version of this mystical place.

Charvak reservoir

Well, at this point you get space for improvisation. Take a road trip in the mountains around the turquoise reservoir or have a picnic and horseback riding. Against the backdrop of a large artificial reservoir, you will see the famous snowy three-thousanders, for which you don’t have to go far. There are many recreation areas on the reservoir with sun loungers, barbecues, and gazebos. In summer, locals come here to swim.
