They cut the resulting dough on a cold “ice” table, deftly form kalachi out of it – a product with a long handle and a “lip” in the form of a lock. They are baked in an oven heated with birch firewood on coals.

The museum premises are stylized as Russian antiquity: a vestibule, a hut, a room of the late 19th-early 20th century. They contain exhibits illustrating the life and way of life of the inhabitants of the Russian village. Almost all of them are genuine, carefully collected by the employees of the “School of Crafts”.

Museum “Kuznechnaya Sloboda”
For many centuries, blacksmiths were indispensable craftsmen in Russia, and the forge was an important object. The production of tools, equipment for horseback riding and much more depended on blacksmiths. Now in some places the former craftsmanship is being revived, workshops for the manufacture of forged products are being opened.
In honor of this profession, blacksmithing, the museum complex “Blacksmith's Settlement” was opened. Despite the short period of existence, it has accumulated a solid collection of exhibits in the amount of 7 thousand items. All of them illustrate the history of Kolomna blacksmithing from antiquity to the present.
Inspection of the complex takes 1.5-2 hours, turning into a fascinating immersion in the blacksmith's antiquity. Entrance is free, but everyone can leave at least a small donation in a special box. Along with agricultural tools, there are military armor and various weapons.
Household items (cast-iron irons, scales, etc.) are presented, which have long lost their use in modern everyday life. The museum has a souvenir shop with an interesting assortment of products. Children enjoy visiting Kuznetskaya Sloboda.

A visit to the private gallery “World of Favorite Toy” will help children find themselves in the magical world of toy characters. It was created by a soft toy maker, collector Irina Kulikova (2014) to the delight of Kolomna kids.
