🍽️ Culinary journey through Kadriorg in Tallinn

50

Kadriorg is undoubtedly one of the top places for walking in Tallinn. In this guide, I will tell you a little more about where in the area you can take a coffee break, beautifully celebrate a special day, or just have a delicious lunch without breaking the bank.

NOP

Koleri 1, Tallinn

The favorite place for breakfast among both locals and expats is the cafe-shop NOP (Neighborhood Organic Place). Here you will find fresh baked goods without lactose, gluten, sugar or animal protein, as well as organic products from small local producers. By the way, vegans will also like it here: the menu has a wide selection of “responsible” dishes. My favorite this summer has been the fruit bowl with tapioca pudding. You can view the menu on the website. We can’t help but mention the atmospheric courtyard of this cafe – be sure to check in there before the cold weather sets in.

Gourmet Coffee

If the morning begins with coffee, then let it be one of the best in Tallinn. The Estonian craft coffee producer Coffee People is responsible for roasting the beans here. The company stands for an ethical approach to business: purchases are made directly from small producers from Colombia, Ethiopia and Brazil. In addition to coffee, Gourmet Coffee has a large selection of tea, delicious breakfasts and hot pastries. The menu can be found on the website. The building itself also has a banquet part. It can be booked for a special day.

Cooker

For breakfast with children, I would mention the Kooker pancake chain. Forget about calories and enjoy hot pancakes – they are really worth it! The cafe has such a wide selection of pancakes that even the most spoiled child (or adult) will find something to their liking. Also worth noting are the drinks, among which the most notable are the refreshing homemade lemonades (we highly recommend trying them with rhubarb and apple) and freshly squeezed juices.

Katharinenthal

The meeting place cannot be changed: the classic cafe Katharinenth al. There are all the elements for warm meetings: a cozy interior where you can feel the spirit of the times, friendly waiters, delicious desserts and an atmosphere conducive to intimate conversations. In summer, the cafe invites you to a terrace overlooking the swan pond. In autumn and winter, I especially like to grab cocoa there and walk around the park. Menu and more information on the website.

Taverna del Gallo Nero

I advise lovers of Italian cuisine to visit the place Taverna del Gallo Nero. At reasonable prices, you can have a great lunch or dinner in company here – the rich menu and large wine list will not leave anyone indifferent. What I liked most there was the pizza; I’m ready to come back for it again and again. In the warm season, I advise you to sit at a table outside to enjoy a beautiful view of the swan pond, but inside you will find a cozy and homely interior typical of an Italian tavern. You can view the menu and book a table on the website.

Cantina Carramba

For lovers of spicy (taste) experiences, I recommend the Mexican restaurant Cantina Carramba. Tacos, burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, nachos, the famous spicy caps – and this is just the beginning of your Kadriorg fiesta! The characteristic interior only adds to the authenticity. By the way, all the pictures were painted by the former owner of the establishment. You can get a closer look at the menu on the website.

Mantel and Korsten

Poska 19a

If you are looking for the perfect place for dinner or a date, then the restaurant Mantel ja Korsten (translated as “Coat and Trumpet”) will definitely help you with this. In a charming house with a red roof and an unusual chimney, you will find signature cuisine inspired by Mediterranean traditions and drinks carefully selected by a local sommelier. There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere here, and in general, simplicity and naturalness are the philosophy of the restaurant. Last year, Mantel ja Korsten received a mention in the prestigious Michelin guide , and also made it to the top of the White Guide (in the casual dining category). More details on the website.

Mon Repos

Narva mnt. 92

The elegant Mon Repo s will help you have a beautiful and tasty evening. Set in a 150-year-old villa, the high-end restaurant is not afraid to add intrigue to classic recipes from French and world cuisine. The second floor of the building – the chef's room – offers a six-course menu, perfected by the famous Estonian chef Vladislav Dyachuk. You can book your gastronomic trip on the website.
