Marriott International Announces New Eco-Friendly Initiative
Marriott International announced that it will end the use of single-use plastic beauty products in all of its hotels worldwide.
By the end of 2020, small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel will be replaced with larger, reusable containers at 7,000 hotels in the chain. Currently, Marriott International estimates that about 500 million small bottles are sent to landfill each year. Reducing such waste will have positive environmental impacts.
The initiative has already started in hotels in North America and will gradually expand around the world.
In its press release, Marriott International also noted that a survey of the network's customers showed that an increasing number of people positively perceive their eco-positive concept, the changes associated with it, and are aware of their own and common responsibility to the world around them.
It should be noted that this is not the first eco-friendly initiative of Marriott International. Earlier this hotel chain had implemented a ban on the use of plastic straws and glasses.
