Spend Christmas in Lviv – it’s unforgettable!

If you do not have the opportunity to travel to Europe for the Christmas holidays, choose Lviv. It is in no way inferior to European cities, but at the same time it sacredly preserves national traditions. And foreigners themselves strive to get to this wonderful city for the winter holidays, giving all guests magical Christmas extravaganzas and excellent mood.

The 2017 Christmas events will start on December 10th. Ukrainian artisans and manufacturers of various domestic goods will begin to set up their stalls on Rynok Square near the Lviv Opera.

But the official opening of the annual Christmas fair will take place on the feast of St. Nicholas (December 19), on the same day the festive lights will be lit on the main tree of the city, located near the Opera House.

But the most eventful days in the ancient city, not counting the New Year, will be January 6 and 7 – the feast of the Nativity of Christ.

The City Shop will be installed near the Town Hall, and the Voskresenye Theater will surprise the audience with an incredible production of When Angels Come Down to Earth. A stunningly beautiful sight will not leave anyone indifferent. Actors will descend in the form of angels from a high tower, accompanied by special effects and enchanting music. For a moment, it will seem to you that you have become participants in that distant event that happened on a fabulous night in Bethlehem.

You can also participate in a folk ritual with the mayor of the city. The procession, passing through the center of the city, merrily singing carols, will carry Didukh (Kolyada) and install it by the owner of Lviv himself.

In the evening, an open-air dinner awaits you, which will consist of twelve Christmas dishes. This large-scale supper will take place on the already known to you, Market Square, and during it you will learn about the meaning of each of the dishes. And then you can, together with the master, make a Christmas charm for yourself, your home and your loved ones.

If these events are not enough for you, then you can complement them by participating in the city's nightlife. The Christmas nightclub program is replete with variety. But still, take some time to relax as the city festivities are in full swing on January 7th.

In the museum of folk architecture and everyday life, the Pampukh holiday will take place, where you will join ancient customs, take part in various competitions and taste delicious donuts. But the main, incredibly beautiful event of this day will be the Procession of the Stars near the Church of the Holy Eucharist. Hundreds of nativity scenes with Christmas stars and carols of extraordinary beauty will parade in front of you. And after that a grandiose concert with pop stars and an awarding ceremony for the best den will take place.

Christmas in Lviv will leave you impressed for a whole year and there is a high probability that you will also spend the next Christmas holidays in this fabulous old city full of magic and special charm.
