How to get there?

The option that most tourists choose is to fly through Bangkok. Since there are no direct flights from many countries to the island. The most popular option among travelers is to fly with a connection in Bangkok. This option is not exactly budget-friendly, but it is fast.

There is another option by bus from Bangkok South Bus Terminal. True, you will have to travel 12 hours to the ferry. Then take the ferry to Koh Samui.

For exotic lovers, we can offer an option with the Hual Lamphong train station. This is the most inconvenient option due to the transfer. It is also the longest.

What to see?

Big Buddha

One of the most popular and great attractions is the Buddha statue. Its height is 12 meters. The Big Buddha can be seen even in the windows of airplanes flying past. If you decide to go here, you should remember that you must take off your shoes and socks when entering. But there is an exception. This rule is canceled if the stairs are hot.

Wat Khunaram

Here you can see the remains of Luang Pho Deng, who at the age of 50 decided to devote his life to monasticism. After his death, his students placed the teacher’s body in a glass sarcophagus, as he had bequeathed. The mummy is still in good condition. Most tourists visit the temple to have a look at it. And if you make a donation, the monks can give you a protective bracelet on your wrist. 

Plai Laem Temple

One of the youngest temples on the island, built with public donations. Its territory is divided into three parts. The most important building is the Thai Bot Temple. It is located in the center of the complex. In the center of the temple is a golden statue of Buddha. On both sides there are two huge statues. On one side will be the goddess Guan Yin. And on the other is the “Smiling” Buddha. The Japanese call it Hotei.

An artificial lake was made around the attraction, in which fish, turtles and many others live.

Lamai Temple on Koh Samui

For Thais, this temple is the personification of social and religious life. Here they often organize fairs and perform rituals. There is also a fish pond on the temple grounds. If you donate a few baht, you will be allowed to feed them. True, you will also have to buy food.

Elephant Orphanage

A place where adults and children will be equally interested. Here you will see how elephants are cared for, how they are fed and how they play. Rocks Hin-Ta and Hin-Yai

Another name for the rocks is “Grandfather and Grandmother”. Both rocks look quite unusual and resemble genitals. There is a legend that the rocks were formed in this shape for a reason. They appeared after an elderly couple drowned at sea. You can find unusual rocks on the east coast of the island.
