Interesting Facts
The Ministry of National Development of Singapore pays special attention to attracting tourists. At the legislative level, grandiose projects are being implemented to improve the territory. The Singaporean company DP Architects and the famous Japanese architect Mr. Kurokawa developed the idea of building a Ferris wheel. The result of joint activities and the application of new engineering ideas was finally obtained in 2008.
The main concept of the building is based on a combination of simplicity with excellent design solutions against the backdrop of a modern metropolis. Thanks to innovative technologies, the slender wheel design is lightweight. The height of the attraction exceeds 160 meters. To understand the scale – these are six nine-story buildings standing on top of each other. The wheel with comfortable cabins moves smoothly, silently and makes a complete revolution within 30 minutes. Steel shock absorbers provide elasticity and reliability of the ride even in squally winds.
The Singapore Ferris Wheel is the only place in the country from where, from the highest point, a wide view of the city skyline and iconic sights opens. If you look towards the strait, you can see the ships standing in the roadstead, as well as notice glimpses from neighboring islands. Skyscrapers of the business district, shopping centers, park areas, the Olympic Stadium, bridges, the world-famous Marina Bay Hotel, the Esplanade Theater are perfectly visible through the panoramic window of the cabin. It is especially beautiful in the evening, when the city seems to shoot into the sky with a shot of lights. Such a spectacle is astonishing.
The attraction differs from similar structures in other countries of the world not only by its technical characteristics, but also by its foundation. It is literally built into a three-story spaceship-shaped building. This is no longer just a Ferris wheel, but a large entertainment complex with restaurants, trading floors and a botanical garden. The uniqueness of the attraction lies in the fact that solemn and business meetings can be held at the height of a bird's eye view. Above the sparkling cityscape, this is a great opportunity to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, or just have fun with friends.
In a booth rented in advance for several hours, before the guests arrive, a festive table with champagne and various cocktails will be served. The entertainment program is pre-agreed. Professional chefs will prepare gourmet dishes for every taste. At the request of the client, the booths can be decorated with flowers or balloons. This service is especially popular among newlyweds. Getting married in heaven will be remembered for a lifetime. It is important to know that no more than 28 people can fit in the cabin.
ferris wheel capsules
