Where can you see the northern lights

17

It is common for both children and adults to dream. Everyone's dreams are certainly different, but there is a kind of unspoken “must see” rating (which must be seen at least once in a lifetime), in which the unique spectacle – the northern lights – is in the lead. It is he who dreams of seeing with their own eyes most people – romantics, skeptics, practitioners and enthusiastic eccentrics.

What is the northern or, as it is also called, the aurora borealis. Where does it come from, how does it arise, why is it so elusive?

In fact, everything is very simply explained by the laws of physics – this is the result of the fact that charged particles of strong flows of energy are introduced from space into the discharged upper layers of the atmosphere, which, when interacting, cause this fabulous optical spectacle. And this happens only in those places where the magnetic poles of the Earth, north and south, are located.

It was physics. Now, a little romance: representatives of the northern Sami people, claim that the northern lights, in addition to beauty, also emit sounds that you need to be able to hear.

The time range when you can see this magic with your own eyes is clearly limited to the dates of September 21 – March 21. The weather situation is also defined – the night must certainly be frosty and transparent-clear, without clouds.

It remains to determine the geography of places on Earth where it will be most convenient to observe this spectacle. Many people think that this is only Scandinavia … The more pleasant it will be for them to know that this is not entirely true.
