Marsa Alam: first class diving in sunny Egypt!

32

The resorts of Egypt all year round attract tourists with a bright sun and a clear sky without a single cloud, azure sea and gentle breeze, as well as a huge number of hotels, services and entertainment for an ideal beach holiday. The famous “All Inclusive” system and consistently democratic prices have made Egypt the most popular tourist destination for our citizens. Not surprisingly, many of us have already visited most of the resorts of this sunny paradise.

Fortunately, Egypt is very actively developing the coast of the Red Sea and new regions for good rest continue to appear here. Marsa Alam is the newest and most promising of them.

Where is

Marsa Alam: first class diving in sunny Egypt!

Marsa Alam is considered the southernmost resort in Egypt on the Red Sea coast. It is located 270 km from Hurghada.

For whom

Marsa Alam is a great place for those who appreciate uncrowded beaches, the opportunity to admire corals and sea creatures in a calm atmosphere and live in brand new rooms of newly built hotels. The center has not yet formed here, so life is concentrated on the territory of hotels. Instead of active animation, diving is preferred here, so lovers of noisy parties are definitely not here. The tranquil atmosphere and unspoiled nature make Marsa Alam ideal for relaxation.

Beaches

Almost all Marsa Alam hotels have wonderful private beaches. It is important to remember that the coral reefs are right on the coast and you will need special shoes to enter the sea.
As in Sharm El Sheikh, most of Marsa Alam hotels are equipped with special pantons (floating or stationary) at most of Marsa Alam hotels, descent into the sea is carried out by stairs and immediately to the depth.
Snorkeling, even close to the coast, takes you into the cartoon “Finding Nemo”, because there is a huge variety of marine life.

Diving in Marsa Alam

The main attraction of this region is the pristine coral coast of the Red Sea with crystal clear waters and rich underwater fauna and flora. If you are fond of diving, Marsa Alam is a great alternative to the more popular Sharm El Sheikh. Snorkelers will enjoy the beautiful sea views right off the shores of their hotels, while for professionals there are excellent diving spots.

Elphinstone Reef is the most interesting diving site in the Red Sea. The steep walls of the 400-meter reef are covered with soft corals, and in the depths you can find barracudas, groupers, whitetip reef sharks and moray eels.
There is a very strong current in the reef area, so diving at Elphinstone is recommended for those who have completed at least three dozen dives.

Another point for divers “Shaab Samadai” is a large free-standing reef, which is located just 8 km south of Marsa Alam. Dolphins are often found here, which sometimes allow them to swim to themselves at a very short distance. And in the southern wall of the reef, at a depth of 7 meters, there is a through cave. During the day, giant groupers often hide in it.
