Today it is difficult to find a person who has not heard of Lego. The history of the famous designer-brand is already over 70 years old. LEGO, a company originally from Denmark, was founded in 1932, but first released its famous multi-colored bricks and parts only in 1949.
And already in 1968, the world's first Legoland theme park opened its doors in the Danish city of Billund. Now there are several such parks scattered in different parts of the world, and we will tell you about them.
What do the parks look like?
Legolands are traditionally divided into several sections or zones. Both parents and children will love the minilands – the central parts of each park. There are mini-copies of the world's most famous landmarks , made from construction sets.
Here is the Statue of Liberty, the Taj Mahal, and all the main city infrastructure : streets, ports, squares, shops. The whole world in miniature. Toy cities perfectly imitate real life with all its dynamics – transport moves, ships sail, there is illumination. Somewhere there is even an interactive feature: you press a button and some kind of Lego model comes to life.
There is also a hollowland – a part of the park covered with a special soft covering so that the youngest visitors do not fall and get hurt. There is the territory of the Wild West, the land of pirates and knights, a world of imagination with a cinema, a world of adventure with attractions, including water ones. And, of course, the park area is LEGO City.
Legoland attractions
All attractions, and there are dozens of them, contain age and height restrictions. But even the youngest visitors have plenty of places to have fun: observation and playgrounds, trains, small slides, and a children's electric car.
It's even more interesting for teenagers. They can even build their own racing car and compete with other park visitors. There is a shooting range, climbing on artificial rocks, putting out fires, mining for gold and much more.
Tickets can be purchased immediately on the spot at the park ticket office, but it is better to do it online in advance on the website, you will probably get a discount. On weekdays there are fewer people, so most vacationers are advised to choose days from Monday to Friday. All Legolands operate on their own schedule depending on the season. European parks are closed in winter.
Each Legoland invites visitors to see how the construction kit is made and how the figures for the sets are created. Of course, there is a gift shop where you can easily spend all your money on cute toy characters from ” Harry Potter “, “Star Wars” or other favorite universes. The parks also have their own themed hotels where you can stay. However, this is for especially devoted fans of the designer, since the markup for the brand is obvious.
All parks are slightly different from each other, for example, in the British one there is a Viking country. In Billund you can take photos with a life-size Lego model of the storyteller Hans Christian Anderson, and in Germany – with football players.
Each park has at least one unique attraction, and Legolands regularly host their own themed shows. Before visiting the park, I advise you to look at the website in the events section when you buy a ticket. Because I hope you will do it online.
In warm latitudes there are water parks, where the attractions are also water-based: artificial waves, slopes, slides, fountains, waterfalls. The infrastructure of each park allows you to relax with comfort: there are shops, cafes, restaurants, WC, drinking water fountains and benches.

Billund (Denmark)
Address: Nordmarksvej 9, 7190. Legoland is open from April to October.
New for 2023: knightly show Battle of the Brick. Real horses, flags, acrobatic stunts, spear fights. The show will run from June 25 to August 20, 2023.
Gunzburg (Germany)
Address: Legoland Allee 89312. Open from April to October.
Feature: an exhibition of life-size football stars, all made from construction kits.
Windsor (UK)
Address: Winkfield Rd, Windsor, United Kingdom. The park is open from April to October.
Interesting thing: you can dive in a submarine and watch the sea inhabitants.
New for 2023: a new thematic world of mythical creatures and creativity.
California (USA)
Address: 1 Legoland Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008. Legoland is open all year.
The park has a huge aquarium and a dinosaur area where visitors can search for fossil bones.

New York, USA)

The newest park: opened only in 2021 – the dates were delayed due to the pandemic. Has every chance to compete for the title of the largest in the USA. His miniland features small copies of all five boroughs of New York. There is also an area where they talk about the history of the brand. Another interesting thing to note is the ninja show.
Dubai, UAE)
Address: Parks & Resorts – Sheikh Zayed Rd – Abu Dhabi. Open all year.
There is a children's mini-zone where carnivals are held. Children can sword fight with the dragon and solve Merlin's tributes.
Nusajaya (Malaysia)

The peculiarity is the Asian flavor and the wide variety of local attractions in the miniland.
Florida (USA)

It has its own botanical garden with rare plants and flowers.
Nagoya (Japan)

Legoland is also quite young, opened in 2017. Attracts with traditional Japanese flavor.

As a bonus, I’ll add one more place to the selection; it’s not a full-fledged park, but its official part is the Legoland water park, as part of another Gardaland amusement park. Located in Italy.

The water park has not only an aqua zone, but also a miniland with the sights of Italy in miniature: the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, various cathedrals.
And even though all the parks officially position themselves as family parks for visiting with children from 2 to 12, adults will definitely not get bored at Legolands either. And if you also buy home some kind of “death star” from LEGO or a model of the “Titanic” for assembly, you will remember your visit to the park for many, many evenings.
