The main airport in Prague, bearing the name of Vaclav Havel since 2012, and formerly called Ruzyne, was put into operation in 1937. A well-chosen site for construction allowed in 2004 to carry out a major reconstruction, expand the territory and increase the capacity of the terminals. This made it possible to receive more than eleven million passengers a year using the services of fifty airlines.
Location and infrastructure of the airport
Kiwitaxi – cheap taxi from Prague airport
Prague International Airport is located twenty kilometers from the center of Prague in the suburb of Ruzyne. Such a convenient position allows passengers to quickly get to the most interesting historical places of the Czech capital. There are four terminals in the terminal building: T1 serves passengers arriving or departing to countries outside the Schengen area. T2 is designed to serve flights from Schengen countries. T3 accepts charter and private flights. T4 is intended for VIPs arriving with official and private visits to the country on their own or government aircraft.
Passport control
Arriving planes stop right at the exits to the terminals, which is very convenient, since it does not require additional transfer by bus from the parking lot. Thanks to the signs, it is easy to get to the place of passport control. Queues at the Prague airport are a rather rare phenomenon, and are observed only at the height of the tourist season. There are special customer service desks for EU citizens, so Russian citizens should pay attention to this so as not to waste time waiting.
After passing through passport control, passengers go to the baggage claim area, after receiving which, you can go to the exit from the airport terminal. It should be borne in mind that customs officers have the right to check the contents of hand luggage after it has been issued to the owner. This is a common procedure that should not be feared, much less be rude or resist airport employees.
