Holidays on the islands – Sri Lanka and attractions
Sri Lanka. Rest on the islands.
Sri Lanka is a wonderful island in the Indian Ocean, located just south of the Indian subcontinent. We know this island state better as Ceylon – the birthplace of the famous Ceylon tea, which grows on tea plantations of gigantic areas.
Tourists visiting this island come here primarily with the aim of touching the origins of Buddhist culture and its heritage, visiting Buddhist temples, prayer houses and holy places that personify the spiritual wealth of this country. “Blessed land” – this is how the name of the country is translated into Russian, and this is really so, as you can see for yourself when you find yourself in this paradise in the middle of the ocean.
• If you are an avid traveler, and there is practically no room for visas in your passport…
• If you are attracted by ancient history and world culture…
• If your eyes shine with excitement from the very anticipation of diving, snorkeling and surfing in an exotic place…
• If you are a true connoisseur of aromatic tea and a connoisseur of tea ceremonies…
You are definitely in Sri Lanka!
Clear sea, exotic natural landscapes and no fuss – just complete relaxation and emotions! This is how tourists who have been here characterize this unhurried country in all respects.
Incendiary discos, noisy club music and festivities until the morning are not in particular favor here.
Holidays in Sri Lanka are always a bet on unity with nature – swimming, picnics, fishing. Even the sights here are mostly natural.
TOURIST NOTE!
• The tap water here is NOT potable.
• In the evening, insect bite protection should be used, especially when visiting national nature parks.
• If you decide to take an extreme overnight jungle trip, be sure to take your antimalarial pills.
• When visiting temples, shorts and clothing with bare shoulders and backs must not be worn.
• When entering the temple, you should take off your shoes!
• Filming in temples is allowed only with the permission of the prior.
• In the temple, DO NOT stand with your back to the Buddha statue!
• Beware of monkeys who behave very arrogantly. You can expect anything from these ubiquitous sneaks: they can snatch food or any object (even a phone or tablet) out of your hands, they can sneak into a hotel room, causing a pogrom there. Make sure that the window and mosquito net are closed in the room.
• On days when the moon is full, it is completely forbidden to drink alcohol. This rule even applies to hotels with an all-inclusive catering system.
Sri Lanka's hotel offers will delight you with their individuality. Firstly, almost all of them are located on the first coastline. Each of them is unique in its own way, the design styles are never repeated, as well as entertainment programs for the day and evening:
These are all kinds of sightseeing trips, barbecue picnics and fishing in the moonlight, fashion shows and ethnic concert programs.
The beaches of Sri Lanka are simply magnificent: soft sand surrounded by coconut trees and coral reefs creates the feeling that you are in an oriental fairy tale.
Sri Lanka is adored by divers, because in addition to the fantastic beauty of the underwater world, extreme boat trips along the grottoes in the underwater rocks, here you can see about 20 sunken ships and even swim inside… Like in a movie!
However, the trip to Sri Lanka itself is perceived by many tourists as an adventure film. If you want to become its main character, then for the full thrill, do not forget to visit the main attractions in Sri Lanka.
• Touch the ancient Buddha tree – the Bo tree, growing in the Anuradhaputra temple. The tree is surrounded by a golden fence, but you can touch it.
• Try to keep your composure in Dambulla's cave, where water flows up the walls, then accumulates on the ceiling and gently falls down, where there is a golden bowl.
• Take time to catch a singing fish show at Batticaloa.
• Sri Lanka invites the most desperate tourists to take a look at the whole country from a high cliff, which is called the “End of the World”… It is located on the Horton plateau, and the most daring dare to climb there.
• Royal Botanic Gardens – a delight for flora lovers. Here grows the ficus of King Edward VII, the iron tree of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II and the spruce planted by Yuri Gagarin.
• The unique Spice Garden in Kandy will not only enchant with its appearance, but will also dazzle on the spot with unearthly aromas.
• Fans of fauna will be pleasantly surprised by the giant Dehiwala Zoo, which is not far from Colombo.
• Tea plantations Nuwara Eliya are waiting for fans of tea ceremonies on excursions and tastings.
What souvenirs to bring from Sri Lanka in memory of an exotic trip?
Various varieties of Ceylon tea, inexpensive textiles, unique batik-style panels, high-quality leather goods and, of course, unique precious stones.
No woman is able to win in the confrontation with a luxurious scattering of rubies, topaz and coveted sapphires…
TOURIST NOTE!
If you are planning to purchase jewelry or just stones, it is better to shop in specialized stores, where they will show you a certificate and attach a receipt to your purchase.
In terms of gastronomic entertainment, Sri Lanka prefers fish and seafood dishes, offering an incredible number of names. Each dish is a special story of the combination of the taste of the main product and exotic spices. Little meat is eaten, since cows are considered sacred animals.
Welcome to Sri Lanka for emotions and relaxation!
