Margaret Island is an incredibly beautiful nature reserve, which has a wonderful arboretum park, which is considered a real oasis filled with peace, tranquility and peace. Also, there is incredibly clean and fresh air, the presence of a special microclimate, and all this is located almost in the middle of the capital of Hungary โ Budapest.
Where is
The incredible Margaret Island is located in a European country โ Hungary, namely on the Danube River, in the middle of two parts of the city โ Buda and Pest. These parts are interconnected by means of two bridges โ the first one was built here at the beginning of the 19th century, and the other in the mid-50s of the 19th century.
In general, Margaret is an artificially created territory, which previously was three small rows, standing islands. After 1950, work was carried out in order to regulate the course of the river near the city itself, and this beautiful island turned out. Its total area is 95.5 hectares.

Name history
The island was named after the daughter of the King of Hungary Bela the fourth โ Margaret. Once Stana was captured by the Tatar-Mongols under the leadership of Batu Khan, and then King Bela promised that if the country was liberated from the bulk of the enemy, he would give his first child to the service of God. The king prayed for a very long time, and in the end he was able to get his hands on the khan. So, all his soldiers were forced to leave Hungary alone, and the king had to keep his word and give his daughter Margit to serve. A monastery was built on the island, where a 9-year-old girl was sent.
Later, she grew up and became just a beauty. The king of the Czech Republic fell in love with her, who decided to release her from confinement in a monastery. He begged and begged for her release for a long time, and when he received permission, the girl refused to leave this island. She lived only 28 years, after which she was canonized and the island was named after her.

How to get there
You can fly to Hungary by plane or by train. As an exception, there are tourist tours and routes. Then you need to take bus 26, which runs all over the island, or trams number 4 and 6 โ they stop at the Margaret Bridge in front of the entrance to the park.
