This small town is wrapped in warm greenery and soft tranquility, as if in contrast to Budapest, the glamorous capital of Hungary, which is located 180 kilometers from the resort. The core of the resort is the lake of the same name, which has healing characteristics and thermal properties. These indications, combined with the high level of professionalism of the local staff, many of whom have been working here for generations, make Heviz a truly unique place.
The lake has become in some way a symbol with which local legends are associated. Basically, these are miracles of healing, which can be believed in, given the rich chemical composition of the water, which maintains a temperature sufficient for comfortable swimming almost all year round, as well as the peat bottom – mud from the bottom of the lake also has a healing effect.
Despite the huge volume of water, it never stagnates, being in constant motion – “the lake smokes”, as the inhabitants say, meaning a light steam haze that appears above the very edge of the water in late autumn, at the height of spring and in the bitter winter frosts. The main decoration of Heviz is its Indian “guests” – these lilies were once brought from the cradle of mankind to instill in this place a bit of Buddhist tranquility.

The local treatment profile is really wide, although, as practice shows, the most successful is the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Local waters are ideal for post-traumatic or post-surgery relief and for direct treatment. The mineral springs of Heviz are often used to treat diseases associated with the gastrointestinal tract and metabolic disorders (diabetes and gout).
Bathing procedures in thermal waters are suitable for curing problems with the spine, as well as with muscles, relieving pain and providing a tonic effect. Some types of gynecological diseases, such as menstrual irregularities, uterine adhesions, and sometimes infertility, are also treatable. Contraindications
It is worth refraining from treatment in the presence of open wounds, any variants of circulatory disorders caused by heart failure, with anemia, hemophilia, anemia, leukemia, and also with thrombosis until the symptoms disappear completely. Malignant tumors also cannot be cured in Heviz.

Heviz is of volcanic origin, and the time of the formation of the lake has already passed the thousand-year mark. Thanks to the presence of three springs that feed the lake, the water in it is completely renewed in about twenty-eight hours. All three springs are located in an underground cave. Their waters gradually mix, which gives such an amazing healing effect.
The bottom is covered with a really thick layer of peat – it is estimated at seven meters. Peat is of natural plant origin and contains a variety of minerals, which allows us to talk about its healing properties.
The healing properties of the lake
One of the main components of thermal waters is sulfur, which determines the success of the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Sulfur is one of the main components of cartilage, and it is sulfur starvation of cartilage that often causes diseases such as osteoarthritis. During bathing, sulfur enters the body through the outer skin, but it is also recommended to take a drinking course.
Calcium and magnesium – another pair of main components – are responsible for the anti-inflammatory effect and the reduction of pain. The group of carbonates works with the skin and achieves an excellent cosmetic effect.
