The Lido Cabaret, located on the Champs Elysées, is considered one of the most famous and popular musical attractions in the French capital. This is the most refined and elegant place for the entertainment of the most demanding audience. Original shows, a variety of numbers and bright costumes of dancers create a magical festive extravaganza on stage. We can safely say that the Lido cabaret is not only as colorful as the oldest Moulin Rouge and the provocative Crazy Horse, but surpasses them in many ways.

History of cabaret

The history of the cabaret began after the end of the Second World War, when the Parisian public, longing for a real holiday, was drawn to entertainment. In 1946, the enterprising Clerico brothers tried to satisfy the needs of the Parisians by creating an entertainment venue that could combine the traditions of the French cabaret and the noisy fun of the restless, many-sided Broadway. The intention of the brothers was a success.

The Lido cabaret organically combines traditional French cancan, oriental dances, acrobatic performances, performances by magicians and jugglers, as well as horse riders. Every year, 500,000 spectators visiting the French capital tend to the Lido cabaret in order to fully experience the atmosphere of a real holiday.

Why is cabaret called Lido?

The name of the cabaret is associated with the name of the famous Venetian Lido beach, from where, according to one version, the founders of the cabaret, Joseph and Louis, arrived to conquer Paris. Another version indicates that the cabaret of the Clerico brothers was originally opened in the building where the casino and the hydropathic with a swimming pool were located.

The interior of the building was decorated with paintings depicting the famous beach. Many of these paintings were left to decorate the interior of the cabaret. Gradually, the name of the Venetian beach migrated to the name of the created entertainment facility.

Review System

The dizzying success of the cabaret was not so much due to the variety of numbers and their unique production, but thanks to the Revue system. The Revue system, which the brothers first applied at the Lido, involves working in the original format of combining entertainment and dinner. This move turned out to be quite successful. Other similar establishments began to follow the lead of the Lido. The best chefs prepare real masterpieces of French cuisine for Lido visitors, which they can enjoy to the sound of jazz melodies before the start of the show.

The second step on the road to success was the collaboration with the popular Margaret Cayley, who in 1948 brought a troupe of wonderful dancers “Bluebell Girls” to the cabaret, who managed to conquer all the visitors of this institution. Perhaps thanks to the charm of the Bluebell Girls and the abilities of Margaret Cayley herself, a woman becomes the central figure of any show.

Representation

In every performance, a woman, with her sensuality and sexuality, beauty and charm, demonstrates a beautiful inner world, in harmony with her beautiful external appearance. The beauty of the female body is emphasized by bright jewelry, sparkling rhinestones and lush ostrich feathers, which adorn the luxurious costumes of Lido dancers. In these festive dresses, the girls become like blossoming fabulous flowers, invitingly alluring and at the same time inaccessible.

The show lacks pronounced frank moments, grossly smacking of pornography. The erotic elements of seduction are so skillfully presented that only the imagination of an adult can unravel them. Therefore, you can safely go to Lido even with children. Incendiary dances, bright scenery and beautiful costumes will arouse the interest of young visitors, and they will be happy to watch the performance to the end.

Building Normandie

In 1977, the cabaret began to receive guests in the Normandy building, also located on the Champs Elysees. With the help of Italian architects, the building was refurbished in such a way that it would be convenient for numerous visitors to watch the colorful show from any of the 1150 seats of the entire huge hall. For this purpose, the columns were demolished, which were replaced by a single concrete beam 45 meters long.

Thanks to the reconstruction, it became possible to create amazing special effects right during the performance: the appearance of a waterfall and a fountain, changing laser pictures and an ice rink, unforgettable fireworks and fantastic sounds. To create all this splendor, famous directors, designers and eminent stars of show business are involved in the productions of the show. Each of the masters of the creative genre considers it an honor to participate in the creation of a new show program. In addition, neither directors nor directors are put in a certain framework, giving complete freedom to their creativity.

26 productions

Each finished performance is filled with humor and drama, eroticism and feelings, plasticity and acrobatics, music and the play of light. All this was embodied in 26 grandiose productions that won recognition and popularity from the public. The latest performance of “Happiness” features 42 Bluebell Girls dancers and 16 Lido Boys dancers who change 600 fantastic costumes with the help of 24 dressers during the show. Not only the director, but also 30 technical workers, and 12 tailors make sure that the costumes of the show participants are in perfect condition.

Visitors to the Lido are not required to follow any specific rules regarding appearance and clothing. But this does not mean that you can come to the performance in shorts and a tracksuit. The cabaret evening starts at 19.00 with a gourmet dinner.

The chef presents a glass of champagne to all dinner guests. At 21.30. a magnificent performance begins, which can end as early as after midnight. Visitors to the show not only watch the colorful performance, but can also dance to the incendiary music during the performance.

The atmosphere of true French charm and high professionalism of all its creators reigns in the Lido cabaret. Therefore, Lido sets the tone for other cabarets, firmly holding the high bar of its popularity.
