Kuta
Kuta has a certain reputation as it is this Balinese resort that has become embroiled in the cycle of hippie life. Today, this peculiar subculture has formed a wonderful tandem with local traditions, turning Kuta into a resort with a very exotic character. From the typical hippie moods, there was the simplicity and convenience of living – cheap housing, unpretentious, but tasty and nutritious local cuisine. There is never perfect silence in Kuta. This paradise for surfers and fans of water sports never empties, as do bars, restaurants and cafes. Many young people rent accommodation in neighboring Legian, which practically merges with Kuta, forming one resort area. Its narrow streets are much more suitable for a secluded and relaxing holiday, but at night, most people still focus on the bright lights of Kuta.
Jimbaran
Jimbaran has a slightly different profile. If Kuta was chosen by hippies, then in Jimbaran, most of them were fans of fishing. Today, this rather modest-sized resort is famous mainly for its local restaurants, which operate successfully thanks to the fish industry. Due to its specificity, Jimbaran has a rather remarkable appearance: one half of the beaches bristle with boats and gear, while the second softly glows with the warm lights of numerous restaurants that are divided into small groups. At the same time, in Jimbaran there are mainly five-star establishments that will suit more affluent guests of Bali. Jimbaran is not considered an ideal place for diving or snorkeling due to its location, but there are interesting underwater routes here.
Nusa Dua
The mango thickets of the local “tropical Switzerland” are classics of an elite holiday in Bali. The Nusa Dua resort is ideal for a European vacation option: fashionable hotels, luxurious villas, perfect greenery of lawns and symmetry of fountains. Wide roads are lined with paths for cyclists, and numerous fitness centers, golf clubs and other establishments of a similar profile are ready to receive guests. Nusa Dua is the only resort in Bali whose beach area is closed to the local population. This leaves a certain imprint on the appearance of the resort – an ultra-western version. It is worth going here for a quality beach holiday, which is guaranteed to meet international standards, but immersion in the local culture will not happen.
Ubud
For a unique culture, you need to go to Ubud. Architecture, religion, traditional arts – all this is presented here in abundance, which is not surprising, since Ubud for many years was the main residence of musicians, artists, dancers and theatergoers, who gradually immersed the resort in a vibrant creative atmosphere. Today, a large number of museums and galleries have been collected here, many of which have a street format. Numerous performances are also quite often held right on the streets of Ubud. In parallel with relatively modern types of art, here you can also get a little closer acquainted with its national manifestations, for example, see with your own eyes a variety of ritual dances – echoes of former traditions and beliefs. A special point are the local natural beauties. Many hotel complexes are located in picturesque gorges, which come close to the green massif of the tropical jungle and stepped rice terraces. Such landscapes become an excellent backdrop for meditation and yoga.
Sanur
Sanur is considered one of the best resorts for families. It is located on the east coast and instantly conquers with its unhurried pace of life. In addition, numerous tropical gardens are located here, allowing you to look at the “civilized tropics”. But this is only one side of Sanur, because the resort is revealed from a completely different side for those who are interested in water sports. Bali Sanur is a seven-kilometer beach, which is well-groomed, gently sloping, almost perfect waves and beautiful underwater landscapes.
The best hotels in Bali
The hotel world of Bali is represented by establishments of all categories. Five-star hotels in Bali in terms of service and quality of service correspond to European standards.
The Lokha Ubud 5 *
This hotel is located in a secluded corner of Ubud. Most rooms have jungle or river views. Some remoteness from the historical part of the resort is compensated by a free shuttle to the center, as well as the presence of a unique safari park in which elephants live, a ten-minute walk from the hotel. The interior design of the rooms combines elements of traditional Bali style and modern designs.
Furniture made from natural materials and paintings by contemporary Balinese artists perfectly complement the decor. The hotel provides numerous health and beauty services. Guests of The Lokha Ubud can spend an evening reading in the cozy library or have an active rest by exercising in the fitness club or swimming in one of the many pools. For children, the hotel has a children's club with qualified staff. The local restaurant specializes in American cuisine.
Bhuwana Ubud Hotel 5*
The hotel is located in the small village of Pengosekan, but such a location away from the noisy resort life is rather a plus, since the Bhuwana Ubud Hotel is located in close proximity to the famous rice terraces, the views of which make the rest here more atmospheric. Afternoon tea on the outdoor terraces with gorgeous views of the gradual change of colors, Balinese dance or yoga lessons, dishes from products that are grown here – in the garden near the hotel – all this is offered to its guests by Bhuwana Ubud Hotel.
The interiors are designed in a common style with the surroundings – ethnic motifs and traditional decor elements combined with modern technology. The hotel has a spa center and swimming pools. Guests can rent a bicycle to explore the local beauty. As a rule, tourists head to the famous Monkey Forest, which is a five-minute drive away. Local restaurants serve European and local cuisine.
Sadara Boutique Beach Resort 5*
This hotel is located in the tourist area of fashionable Nusa Dua, right on the beach of Tanjung Benoa, and therefore picturesque sea views are guaranteed to all hotel guests. Most rooms have small balconies overlooking the tropical gardens. The rooms are designed in a classic style with an abundance of elements made of dark wood.
Local restaurants serve international cuisine. Guests can head to the beach or take a dip in one of the pools that are part of the hotel complex. Here you can also rent equipment for water sports. Barbecuing on the outdoor terrace or reading in the garden are good options for spending the evening.
Komaneka at Bisma Ubud 5*
The hotel is located on the banks of the Oos River. It also offers free yoga classes and Balinese dance lessons. Komaneka at Bisma Ubud offers a complimentary shuttle service to Ubud, known for its abundance of cultural attractions. The main feature of the design of the rooms is elegance combined with lightness: spacious rooms, thin curtains, four-poster beds. After playing sports or swimming in the pool, hotel guests can visit the spa to relax and relieve fatigue during a massage session. The local restaurant serves Indonesian and international dishes.
Melia Bali Indonesia 5*
Despite the fact that the hotel is located in the tourist part of Nusa Dua, the location in the epicenter of the noisy resort is almost not felt, thanks to the presence of a tropical landscaped park and a huge pool, stylized as a lagoon. Hotel guests have every opportunity for an active or more relaxing holiday: spa, sauna, fitness center, tennis courts, playgrounds, golf course, outdoor terraces. The hotel has a number of restaurants serving Japanese, International and Mediterranean cuisines. The hotel staff also speak Russian.
What to see in Bali
Bali has a huge number of architectural and religious monuments. Religious buildings with monumental architecture and unique decorative elements are a colorful backdrop for relaxing on the island. Among the most famous complexes of this type, Pura-Besaki stands out, which consists of twenty independent temples. Among the most notable temple complexes are also Tanah Lot, which is also considered the hallmark of Bali, and Goa Gaja, a unique cave temple named after an animal that has never been found on the island.
Among the natural attractions stand out rice terraces, which have a stepped shape. Their visit will be a highlight, as the terraces subtly change as the rice matures. As a rule, ethnic settlements are located not far from the terraces, which are also worth a look. For example, in Batubulan, where the best masters of woodcarving still live. You can get acquainted with the nature of the island, its numerous waterfalls, gorges, volcanoes in the format of short excursions through the jungle or in a more civilized format – in tropical or botanical gardens.

When is the best time to go on holiday to Bali?
Bali is the realm of eternal summer and a real find for the tourist, as most of the recreation options are available here throughout the year. The mild equatorial-monsoon climate causes the virtual absence of winter, which “comes” here in the format of the rainy season. This period usually lasts from November to March, but you should not refuse a trip to Bali even during these months. The Balinese format of the rainy season is short but very heavy showers, which usually fall in the morning. After lunch, the morning riot of nature is reminiscent of perhaps a little hung air humidity – nothing more. However, it is more comfortable to rest in Bali from May to October, when the weather pleases with stable sunshine and dryness. At the same time, it is the calendar summer that is the most preferable time for rest,
What type of food to choose
Of course, an all-inclusive holiday may seem the most optimal, especially for the first trip to Bali, however, the general rule does not work for this island. Excessive normalization will not allow you to more fully integrate into the life of Bali, including its gastronomic component. While visiting Bali, BB meals are enough, that is, meals that include breakfast at the hotel. Otherwise, you should not limit yourself – in Bali, in fact, on every corner there are both local restaurants – varungs, and establishments that specialize in all types of cuisines, while the menu is quite often duplicated in Russian, albeit with minor errors. You can eat in Bali really tasty and inexpensive, as the owners of restaurants and cafes willingly make discounts.
Holidays in Bali with children
The excursion world of Bali is ideal for families with children – an extremely active and vibrant holiday. So, the island has a number of safari parks, a visit to which is a great opportunity for young guests of Bali to get to know many species of animals, and not only look at them drearily, but also really spend time with them. It is difficult to find a child who refuses to bathe a baby elephant, feed him or even decorate him. A visit to the Monkey Forest with a little arrogant but quite friendly monkeys, as well as Gili Island, which has a colony of sea turtles – all this will cause pure delight.
Local water parks do not limit themselves to enclosed spaces in the interior of the island. As a rule, they are placed on floating pontoon clubs, which are complex systems of slides and pools that are located right in the warm ocean blue. For children, active programs for conquering the waves and the jungle are offered. For example, on board a pirate ship in Nusa Dua, made in full size, lessons of sea wolves are held, and in the unique Bali Treetop Adventure Park complex, you can experience the whole gamut of emotions, conquering the jungle on ziplines and bungee ropes without strict shouting from your parents.
