Kemer with kids: how to choose a hotel by area and child's age

Kemer with kids: how to choose a hotel by area and child's age

With kids, people go to Kemer for the sea, the pine trees, and hotels with water parks. The resort stretches along the southern coast of Turkey, and family properties are located in five different areas: Beldibi, Göynük, Çamyuva, Tekirova, and Kiriş (according to the official Kemer website).

The area you choose changes your trip more than the star rating does. Some resorts accept babies from six months, while others only open their kids' club for school-age children. You can see the difference as soon as you walk into the lobby.

Below are fifteen Kemer hotels that operate on an all-inclusive basis and are designed for family vacations. For each one, we note who it suits, where it's located, and what to check before booking.

1. Rixos Sungate

Rixos Sungate is the largest resort in this selection. It occupies a huge property in Beldibi at the foot of the Taurus Mountains and has more than a thousand rooms at different comfort levels. For comparison, think of a small town: it has a congress center and its own restaurant street.

The kids' area is set up as a separate Rixy kingdom. In the summer months, the club accepts even babies from six months, and year-round it takes children from three to twelve. Outdoors, in a pine park, there's a trampoline, a mini water park, a mini farm, a basketball court, an adventure park, a movie theater, and a kids' train.

Adults get a wide choice of à la carte restaurants and the spacious Anjana SPA, built according to feng shui principles (according to the official Rixos website). The beach runs along the entire property and is divided into sections with piers and a private cove.

  • Who it's for: large families who value scale and kids' programs almost from birth.
  • The catch: the resort is very large, so in high season it gets crowded and noisy around the main pools.

2. Maxx Royal Kemer Resort

Maxx Royal Kemer Resort is located in Kiriş and holds its position as one of the most prestigious family resorts in the region. Guests are accommodated in the main building, in the residence block, in one- and two-story family suites, and in beach villas. The grounds are more compact than those of the giant resorts, but the level of service is higher.

Dining is built around Restaurant Street. The resort operates on an all-inclusive concept with several à la carte restaurants and a separate kids' restaurant, snack bars and bars, and chilled fruit and ice cream are handed out by the water.

Swimming is organized in different ways: two sandy coves, a pebble beach for adults, and a mini beach for children. There is a water park with slides, adult and children's pools, including an indoor one. Kids here are grouped by age, from toddlers to seventeen-year-olds: playrooms and a garden, a Lego land, a cinema, Zumba, yoga, gymnastics, mini disco, dance and craft classes, theater performances, and family competitions.

  • Who it's for: families with children of any age who want high-level service and a varied program.
  • Not for: those looking for the lowest price point in Kemer.

3. Crystal de luxe resort & spa

Crystal De Luxe Resort & Spa occupies a compact site in the center of Kemer. Popular nightclubs are nearby, so it's a debatable choice for a quiet family vacation, but city walks and shops are just a short stroll away. A green city park with a fountain borders the property.

The Panaroma restaurant serves a buffet, while Venezia, Mexico, and Istanbul operate à la carte. The Lagoon bar serves local dishes: Turkish pide pizza, gözleme flatbreads, börek pie, and manti. The property's main pride is its spa complex with a mineral water pool, sauna, and hammam. For children, there is an outdoor playground and a water park with slides, while the indoor mini club operates only in winter.

  • Who it's for: families with school-age children who want to stay in the center and walk to the sea.
  • The catch: the proximity of nightclubs is a problem for those counting on a quiet night's sleep.

4. Pgs Kiris Resort

Pgs Kiris Resort is a spacious complex on the Kiriş coast, at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, designed for high occupancy. The main restaurant has a children's menu, two more operate with Italian and Mediterranean menus, plus bars and a patisserie. Its private pebble-and-sand beach has received the Blue Flag for clean water and shoreline.

Several pools, both outdoor and indoor, and a small water park with slides are available for swimming. The wellness center offers a sauna, hammam, and fitness room. Adults can take part in aerobics, dancing, mini football and basketball, diving and water sports, and watch shows in the amphitheater in the evening.

Animators look after young guests from morning until late evening. An indoor and outdoor play park has been built for kids, and the Pegy Club holds themed days, painting classes, cartoon screenings, and pool games every week.

  • Who it's for: families with school-age children who want plenty of sports and kids' activities on site.
  • The catch: the complex is designed for a large flow of guests, so in season there are queues for the kids' club and the slides.

5. Armas Labada

Armas Labada is a small hotel west of Kemer that went through a renovation quite recently. Its small size is more of a plus here: the beach and restaurant are close, and the staff gets to know guests by face faster. There is a main restaurant and an a la carte fish restaurant, plus several bars.

The sand and pebble beach is on the first line. The property has an indoor pool and a spa center with a hammam, sauna, beauty salon, and fitness room. Adults have fun by the sea and in the pool: water polo, banana boat, jet skis, beach volleyball, and parasailing, with discos and live music shows in the evening.

There are two clubs for children. The toddler club offers theater games, dance lessons, coloring, and fun contests, while the teen club focuses on sports. There is a playground on the beach, and most guests rate the children's services highly.

  • Who it's for: families with children of different ages who don't need a huge complex.
  • Not for: those who want a big water park and many restaurants.

The sand and pebble beach has been awarded the Blue Flag. There are many pools here: adult pools, including a Paralympic pool and a relaxation pool, and children's pools, including outdoor, indoor, and one with slides. The spa center offers Eastern treatments, a bath complex, and a fitness room.

The large amphitheater hosts shows and entertainment programs, and dance parties are frequent, including beach parties. A dedicated animation team works with children: kids can enjoy a well-equipped playground, a mini club, and discos.

  • Who it's for: families who value a water park, a kids' club, and a big entertainment program.
  • The catch: some activities, such as tennis lessons and diving, cost extra.

7. Transatlantik Hotel & Spa

Transatlantik Hotel & Spa is located in Göynük and sits on the second beach line. This means you walk through the property to reach the sea rather than stepping straight onto the sand. Dining runs on an extended all-inclusive system: there is a children's restaurant, a la carte fish and Turkish restaurants, several bars, a patisserie, and a late-night buffet.

The beach with a pier is set up for water activities: banana boat, parasailing, jet ski, and windsurfing. The main pool is complemented by slides, a heated indoor pool is located in the spa center, and a separate pool is provided for children. Wellness & Spa Queen Alisa Deluxe offers a full range of treatments and a bath complex.

The sports program is broad: gymnastics, aerobics, stretching, step, beach volleyball, fitness, ping-pong, Zumba, and boccia. Children spend time at the Mico club or on the beach playground.

  • Who it's for: families who want quiet Göynük and a wide sports program.
  • The catch: second beach line, so you need to walk to the beach.

8. Kilikya Palace

Kilikya Palace is a family resort in Göynük. It has indoor and outdoor restaurants, five of which serve a la carte: East Asian, Italian, Mexican, Turkish, and fish cuisine. The picture is completed by a lobby bar, a pool bar, and a disco bar.

Guests appreciate the beach, which has been awarded the Blue Flag. There you can pay for sailing catamarans and banana boat rides, try parasailing, water skiing, and ringo, and no license is required for surfing. The property has several pools, including an indoor one, one of which is designed for parents and children to swim together, and a water park with slides.

The wellness center invites guests to the sauna, hammam, and gym, and runs aqua aerobics classes. The amphitheater hosts music and theatrical shows. Children are welcomed at the playground and mini club: there are drawing, dance, and theater makeup lessons, discos, and sports matches.

  • Who it's for: families with young athletes and children who love water and slides.
  • Not for: those who want to walk around town, as Göynük is far from the center of Kemer.

9. Akka Alinda

Akka Alinda stands right by the sea, on the first line of a picturesque bay. Guests are accommodated in the main building, attached three-story blocks, and apartment buildings. The room stock was recently refreshed, so the interiors look newer than those of some neighbors in this selection.

The main restaurant Divan prepares both standard and healthy dishes: for fans of clean eating, there is a dedicated corner with calorie counts and salt-free meal options. The French Gulet and fish Pasha operate a la carte, and you can spend time with company in six bars. The Sudeya spa center offers dozens of massage techniques, a weight-loss room, reflexology, a jacuzzi, and a bath complex.

Adults play tennis, darts, and billiards, go on walking routes, canoe, and sing karaoke. Three clubs are open for children, so every guest's age is taken into account. Check-in is turned into a ceremony: a child receives a special passport and a personalized card. Theme days change every day, so there is no time to get bored.

  • Who it's for: families who value refreshed rooms and a rich children's program.
  • Not for: those who want a short transfer from the airport, as this is not a nearby part of Kemer.

10. Mirage Park Resort

Mirage Park Resort is surrounded by pine and orange trees and holds a healthy tourism certificate. The buffet is served in the main Olympos restaurant, Turkish and Bosphorus dishes are offered a la carte, and drinks are poured in several bars.

The beach is pebble and sand and long for a property like this, almost half a kilometer. For swimming there are an indoor pool and adult pools, separate ones for children, and three water slides. Relaxation lovers should check out the bath area: besides a sauna and hammam, there is a Roman steam room and various types of massage. For game fans, there is a Play Station lounge.

Athletes can enjoy quartz-surface tennis courts, water and land aerobics, an archery range, and water activities: water skiing, jet skis, pedal boats, canoes, banana boat rides, and parasailing. Little ones have fun at the playground and in the mini club.

  • Who it's for: families who love pine trees, a long beach, and active recreation.
  • The catch: getting to the sea from the far buildings means walking across a large green area.

11. Paloma Foresta Resort

Paloma Foresta Resort is a forest resort in Beldibi that belongs to the Renaissance chain. Guests are accommodated in rooms and villas, with trees all around, so the feeling of a countryside getaway stays with you even at the height of the season. The renovation took place in the middle of the last decade, so the interiors are not the newest in this selection.

Dining is varied: national cuisine is offered free of charge, and you can also try Chinese, fish, and Mexican dishes, plus steaks straight from the fire. The bars range from a club bar and a beach bar to a pool bar and an authentic Irish pub. The beach is private, sand and pebble.

For swimming there is a main pool with a bar floating in the center, separate pools by the villas, and a relaxation area. The spa offers a sauna, hammam, and steam room. Active guests can use the gym, gymnastics, step, aqua aerobics, Les Mills, stretching, dancing, basketball and volleyball courts, bocce, darts, and tennis. A mini club looks after children, and since 2016 a dedicated chef for young guests has been working here.

  • Who it's for: families who value the surrounding forest, villas, and a calm atmosphere.
  • Not for: those who want a water park with slides; the entertainment options here are more modest.

12. Simena holiday village & villas

Woman in a hat with a drink by the pool

Simena Holiday Village & Villas is set in a green garden in Camyuva. Guests stay in a five-story main building and in villas, with plenty of greenery and quiet all around. Dining operates on an all-inclusive basis.

It's worth being careful here. According to guest reviews, the rooms need updating, and the restaurant can have long lines and slow service. The hotel's own sand-and-pebble beach with a pier also gets mixed reviews: it can get crowded in season. On the plus side, the grounds have several adult and children's pools and a water park, which matters for families with kids.

Adults can use the fitness and spa center with a Turkish bath and sauna, ball sports, darts, aerobics, water sports and pedal boats, plus evening programs with live music and a nightclub. For children, there's a playground and a kids' club for ages four to twelve.

  • Who it's for: families who want a green garden, a water park, and are willing to check recent reviews.
  • The catch: worn rooms, restaurant lines, and a crowded beach in high season.

13. Limak Limra Hotel

Pebble beach with a pier by the sea in Kiris© Tanya Dedyukhina · CC BYPhoto: Tanya Dedyukhina, CC BY (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0), Wikimedia Commons

Limak Limra Hotel is located in Kiris, at the foot of Mount Olympos Minor, among orange trees. The resort spans several buildings and operates under the Kids Concept family program. The two main restaurants, Olympos and Phaselis, serve a buffet of local and international dishes, while five more specialty restaurants operate on an a la carte basis, including a barbecue where guests grill their own meat. Sweets are sold at the patisserie.

The resort's main highlight is its pools. Their total area is measured in thousands of square meters, most are outdoors, and one is indoors and heated. The pebble-and-sand beach with a pier is across the road and relatively small. The spa complex offers the standard set: massage, sauna, hammam.

Sports enthusiasts can play on tennis courts, squash, basketball, mini football and golf, with billiards and darts available indoors. Younger guests and school-age kids have two clubs, a mini club and a teen club, plus water slides and playgrounds.

  • Who it's for: families who want large pools and a full kids' club.
  • The catch: the beach is across the road, so you cross a crosswalk to get to the sea rather than stepping out of your room.

14. Ozkaymak Marina

Ozkaymak Marina is located in the center of Kemer, so shops, cafes and the promenade are all nearby. The hotel was renovated more than ten years ago, so the interiors in places fall short of the newer resorts in this selection. You can eat at the main Marina restaurant, at the reservation-only VIP dining room, at the aqua restaurant, or at the fish restaurant with an a la carte menu, plus there's a patisserie and several bars.

The beach is about a hundred meters from the hotel, roughly a two-minute walk (according to the map). The grounds have two large outdoor pools and one indoor heated pool, with a separate wading pool for children. The slides are designed for both adults and kids.

The spa offers beauty and recovery programs with a hammam, sauna and jacuzzi. The fitness center runs aerobics and aqua aerobics. Active entertainment includes darts, table tennis and an archery range, and by the sea you can get gear for water sports and diving. Younger guests are welcomed at the mini club for children aged four to twelve and at the playground.

  • Who it's for: families without a car who want to stay in town and walk to the sea.
  • The catch: the city center is noisier than the outskirts, and the hotel's renovation is no longer new.

15. Club hotel phaselis rose

Hotel room with bed, sofa and floor lamp

Club Hotel Phaselis Rose is a mature family complex that will soon turn twenty-five, but it doesn't look its age. Guests love the green grounds, which resemble a botanical garden, with palm trees and well-kept paths. The accommodation is designed for a large flow of guests.

The main restaurant comfortably seats over a thousand people. The Turkish, Italian and fish restaurants serve a la carte, and each guest can visit any one of them once for free. There are also late-night and express buffets and the Rose patisserie.

The beach with a pebble entry is on the first line. The grounds include a private water park, adult and children's pools, shops within the complex, and a spa center offering a jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish steam room and beauty salon. Sports enthusiasts can work with trainers in the aerobics room, play table tennis, use the tennis courts, and play on the volleyball, mini football and basketball fields. There are discos and a game zone with bowling and billiards. A kids' club and playground are open for children, with animators running activities.

  • Who it's for: families with kids and teens who want a water park, sports and greenery.
  • The catch: the complex is mature and very large, so it gets crowded in season.

⁉️🤔 Frequently asked questions

At what age do Kemer hotels accept young children?

It depends on the resort. At Rixos Sungate in summer, the kids' club takes even infants from six months, while Maxx Royal Kemer Resort runs programs from toddler age to seventeen. At most other hotels in this selection, the mini club is designed roughly for ages four to twelve, so check the lower age limit before booking.

Which area of Kemer should I choose for a family vacation?

Beldibi and Goynuk are closer to Antalya Airport, so the drive after your flight is shorter. Kiris and Camyuva are farther out and greener, with less urban development and quieter evenings. Kemer's center is convenient for walks and shopping, but it doesn't suit every family because of the nearby nightclubs.

What's included in all-inclusive at Turkish five-star hotels?

Meals throughout the day, drinks, pools and most entertainment. At the resorts in this selection, the main buffet restaurant and several a la carte restaurants, kids' clubs, water parks and evening shows all operate on this basis. Some services, such as diving and tennis lessons, are paid separately.

Do I need a hotel with a water park when traveling with kids?

A water park helps keep children occupied during the hot midday hours, when the beach sun is too intense. That's why most resorts in this selection have slides. If your child is still too young for slides, it's more important to choose a hotel with a warm children's pool and a shaded playground.

What should I check before booking a family hotel?

Check the minimum age for the kids' club, the depth of the children's pool, and the distance to the beach. At Simena Holiday Village, guests complain about restaurant lines and worn rooms, so read recent reviews from the latest season, not just older write-ups.
