How to choose a 4-star hotel in Dubai

In Dubai, four stars usually means a pool, a gym, breakfast, and daily housekeeping. Most of these hotels don't have their own sandy beach, but almost all of them take guests to the sea on a free shuttle. Accommodation taxes are paid on site, not in the booking. Double-check the address in your confirmation: two hotels from the same chain in Dubai are often located in different neighborhoods, and you'll end up at the wrong one.

There are few of those on this list. Most hotels take guests to the sea on a free scheduled shuttle. Hotels on the Jumeirah waterfront have their own beach or beach club, and they're usually rated in a higher category.

Can the metro get you to the beach?

Yes, but with transfers. The Dubai metro is clean and inexpensive, and the red line stations are closest to the hotels in Al Barsha. From the station to the beach you usually still need to walk or ride, so many people take a taxi or the hotel shuttle. Check the route on the map before you go.

What does "all inclusive" mean at 4-star hotels in Dubai?

Most often it means breakfast and dinner as a buffet, less often full board with drinks. True all-inclusive with alcohol is found at 5-star properties and resorts. Check the meal plan in your booking: at the same hotel, rates with different inclusions vary.
