Denmark

You have already chosen Denmark and are now planning the trip day by day. This is the stage when specific questions come up: how to get from the airport, which Copenhagen neighborhood to look for a hotel in, which tickets to buy in advance. This section is built around those decisions. We do not retell the country's history. We help you make decisions before you fly.

Most of the articles are about Copenhagen. There is a breakdown of the trip from Kastrup Airport to the city center that compares the train, the metro and a taxi. There is an overview of the capital's neighborhoods that explains which one suits which kind of trip. And there is a long list of places worth seeing, with prices and opening hours for every entry. That list works well as the backbone of a plan for several days.

We cover amusement parks separately. The article on Tivoli Gardens explains how the tickets work, how the seasons differ and which rides to pick first. The article on Bakken, just outside Copenhagen, covers the free entry, the old wooden roller coaster and the ride wristband. The first park is right in the city, the second is outside it, and the texts help you decide which one to put in your plan.

There are fewer articles about places beyond the capital so far, and we say so openly. There is a roundup of experiences around the country that includes LEGO, Santa Clauses and the Faroe Islands. There is a piece on the island of Læsø: beaches, horses and seaweed roofs. These articles show what else Denmark has besides Copenhagen. The Faroe Islands appear in the roundup as one of the experiences, and the section has no separate guide to them.

We build every text the same way. A short answer to the main question comes first, followed by practical blocks: how to get there, how much it costs, when it is open, what to buy in advance. Every figure comes with its source and the date it was checked. We compare prices and timetables against the official websites of parks, museums and transport operators. We write about the downsides in as much detail as the upsides: lines, high prices, closed seasons.

The section suits anyone traveling to Denmark independently who wants to make decisions before flying. It is especially useful for a first trip to Copenhagen and for a trip with children, when amusement parks are part of the plan. If you need a detailed road trip itinerary across the whole country or overviews of other Danish cities, those articles do not exist yet. We do not want to promise more than has already been published.

The best place to start is the article on Copenhagen's neighborhoods: everything else depends on which one you choose. Then read the piece on the trip from Kastrup Airport to get a picture of your first hour after landing. After that, open the list of places in Copenhagen and mark what interests you. Read the articles on Tivoli Gardens and Bakken once you have decided how much time to give the parks. Leave the roundup of experiences and the Læsø piece for last: you need them if your trip has spare days.

"Denmark" is part of the "Europe" section, which belongs to "Destinations". The country has no subsections, and all the articles sit in a single list. If you are combining Denmark with another country, take a look at the neighboring sections. For a route across northern Europe, "Germany" and "Finland" will come in handy. On the same level you will find "Belgium", "France", "England", "Andorra", "Bulgaria" and "Georgia".

We keep the articles in this section up to date. Ticket prices, entry conditions and transport timetables change, so each text shows the date of the last check. Before your trip, open the official website of the park or the operator anyway and check the figures for your dates. We do not cover entry rules or insurance in this section: those need to be checked with official government sources. New texts about Denmark will appear in this same list. That way you arrive with a finished plan and without unnecessary questions on the ground.
