Here you’ll find every country and city we write about, grouped by continent and listed alphabetically within each. The number alongside shows how many articles the site has on that destination. The “Guide” label takes you to a page where the country or city is organised for planning a trip on your own.

This page is useful in two situations. If you already know which country you want, find it through the search or in its continent’s section and go to the articles or the guide. If you have the time off and a budget but no idea where to go yet, go through the continents one by one: the number of articles shows which places we know best.

Europe32 countries · 1,396 articles

Europe is the largest section of the site. It covers city breaks of a few days, longer routes through several countries and seaside holidays. Distances are short, so two or three countries are easy to combine in one trip. Countries with the most articles: Italy (199), Spain (142), France (97). There are 22 guides here; they are marked on the cards.

Asia15 countries · 690 articles

Asia on this site means both beach holidays in Turkey, Thailand or the Maldives and big cities such as Singapore and Dubai. The season here depends on the country, not on the time of year in Europe, so it’s worth checking when to go separately for each destination. Countries with the most articles: Turkey (162), Thailand (74), United Arab Emirates (50). There are 10 guides here; they are marked on the cards.

North America5 countries · 158 articles

This section covers the USA and Canada with their long distances, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean, where people go for sea and sun. It’s worth finding out about entry rules and permits well in advance. Countries with the most articles: USA (81), Mexico (19), Dominican Republic (17). There is one guide; it is marked on its card.

South America4 countries · 55 articles

A long-haul destination for those who have the time: nature, mountains and big cities. The flight is long, so a trip like this is usually planned for at least two weeks. Countries with the most articles: Brazil (26), Peru (9), Argentina (8). There is one guide; it is marked on its card.

Africa3 countries · 60 articles

For Africa, we write primarily about Egypt and Tunisia, both nearby beach destinations, as well as Tanzania with Zanzibar. There is one guide; it is marked on its card.

Oceania1 country · 29 articles

For now, this section has one country: Australia.

Antarctica3 articles

The most remote destination: tourists mostly get here on expedition cruises.

How to choose a destination when you don’t have one in mind yet

The easiest way to start is with when you’re travelling. The Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter categories bring together articles on where to go in each season, and the travel calendar shows celebrations and festivals by date.

The second way is to start from the kind of trip you want. For a limited budget there is the Affordable vacation category, for those who want more than lying on the beach there is Active recreation, and for when you simply want some inspiration, Vacation ideas.

Once you’ve chosen a destination, check the formalities: the Visas and passports category covers entry rules, and the Flights category covers everything about air travel. Rules change, so check them against the country’s official source before you buy tickets.

How to use this page

  • The name of a country or city opens all the articles on that destination.
  • “Guide” is an overview page: what to see, where to stay, how to get around, when to go and what the budget is made up of. Guides are not yet available for every country.
  • Not sure where to go yet? Start with all the guides or with the travel calendar.

What you won’t find here

We do not cover destinations in Russia. We present Crimea as occupied Ukrainian territory and Abkhazia as part of Georgia under international law; we offer no travel recommendations for them. The reasons are set out on the “About us” page.
