35 Krakow attractions: a two-day route and tickets in advance
📍 Wawel, St. Mary's Basilica, Kazimierz and 32 more Krakow spots: opening hours, advance tickets and a ready two-day…
Read more →Poland is decided, and now the trip has to be put together day by day. At this stage there are usually more questions than time: which city to use as a base, how many days to give it, which tickets to buy in advance, how to get from one city to the next. We have gathered the answers in one section. Inside you will find city guides, close looks at individual sights, and practical pieces on transport and accommodation.
City guides are the core. For Krakow there is an overview of the main places with Wawel, the Main Market Square and Kazimierz, a long list of sights with a two-day route, and a one-day walking route. For Warsaw there is an express route for one or two days, a list of places with prices and opening hours, and a selection of addresses that rarely make it into guidebooks. Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań and Białystok are covered as a single day or as a list of places.
Separate pieces focus on specific sites. These are Wawel Hill, the Wieliczka Salt Mine, Malbork Castle and the Crooked House in Sopot. Each one explains how the tickets work, how to get there and how much time to allow. The Malbork piece, for example, tells you how to get there by train from Gdańsk and on which day admission is free. These texts are useful when the city is already chosen and one particular day is left to plan.
There is practical material too. The piece on trains explains how to buy a ticket and reserve a seat. The selection of Krakow hotels is arranged by district and budget. The museums of Krakow and Warsaw are collected in separate lists with tickets and free days. For trips out of Krakow there is an overview of weekend destinations and a breakdown of the one-day tour to Zakopane: what is included and how much it costs. Another text covers Polish food, from żurek to Toruń gingerbread.
Every piece opens with a short conclusion: the main point is made in the first paragraphs. Practical blocks follow: tickets, opening hours, getting there, a plan for the day. For prices and timetables we name the source and the date of the check, and we verify the data against the official websites of museums and carriers. If the data may be out of date, we say so in the text. We write about the downsides plainly: lines, timed tickets, a long journey for the sake of a single site.
The section is meant for people who travel independently and plan in concrete terms: a first time in Krakow, a long weekend in Warsaw, a route through several cities by train. It also suits those who are still unsure about the country: for them there is a comparison of Czechia and Poland. It will be less useful if you are looking for a ready-made package tour or a beach vacation. Rural regions and mountain hikes are also thinly covered so far.
We suggest starting with the overview of what to see in Poland: Warsaw, Malbork and the Tatras. It helps you work out which cities belong in your route. Then open the guide to the city you chose and pick the format that fits your number of days. After that, move on to the individual sites where tickets are best bought in advance. Accommodation and trains are easier to read last, once the dates and the order of cities are clear.
"Poland" belongs to the "Europe" section, which is part of the large "Destinations" category. It has no subsections: all pieces sit in one list. If your route goes beyond the country, look into the neighboring sections on the same level, for example "Germany", "Denmark" or "Finland". The pieces there follow the same principle.
We update the pieces. Ticket prices, free days and timetables change from season to season, so we come back to the texts and check them against official sources. The section keeps growing: new cities and sites are added as they are ready. Before your trip, still open the website of the museum or carrier and check the data for your dates. It takes little time and spares you unpleasant surprises on the spot.
