The center of Serfaus has been closed to cars since the 1980s (as of Wikipedia). You leave your car at the entrance parking lot, then get around on foot, on skis, or by underground train.
The Dorfbahn is an underground air-cushion railway. It opened in 1985 and is considered the smallest and highest underground railway in the world (history of the U-Bahn Serfaus).
The train runs free, quietly, and with zero emissions. The Dorfbahn carries up to 3,000 people per hour from the parking lot to the valley station of the Komperdellbahn (as of the municipality of Serfaus, 09/2026). The interval is short, so you don't stand around waiting.
For parents, this is a noticeable energy saver. A stroller, skis, and kids fit without hassle, and the trip to the lift takes just a few minutes.

The resort has a mega-zone of 12.5 hectares set aside for kids (as of the official website, 09/2026). It's designed as a playground on snow: slides, tunnels, figures, and learning slopes with a magic carpet instead of a T-bar.
About 250 instructors work in the children's ski schools. Lessons are play-based and offered in several languages, so kids don't face a language barrier.
The youngest children are accepted at nurseries and kindergartens right at the resort. There are nap areas, children's cinemas, and a climbing tower for young climbers. All of this is gathered in the Murmlis & Bertas Winterwelt area.

How to get to Serfaus
The nearest major airport is in Innsbruck. From there it is easiest to take a train to Landeck-Zams station, and then a bus to Serfaus or Fiss.
