First line can mean different things, and your vacation depends on it. In Bang Tao, Surin, and Kamala, hotels stand across the road right by the sand. The Phuket Smart Bus runs from Phuket Airport (HKT) to the western beaches. A ticket costs 100 THB (as of 09/2026, Phuket Smart Bus fares). The route passes through Surin, Kamala, Patong, Karon, and Kata, with departures once an hour from 06:30 to 17:30 (as of 09/2026, operator). Taxis and private transfers cost more, but they take you right to the hotel door.

The best season on the west coast runs from November to April (as of 09/2026, Tourism Authority of Thailand). From June to October the monsoon arrives: the sea gets rough, but surfers get their waves. In winter, first-line prices are higher, so book in advance.
