Mallorca works well for a family vacation almost all year round. In summer, the sea in the Bay of Alcudia warms up early, and the water entry on Playa de Muro beaches stays gradual even in August.

High season on the island runs from May through October. The Playa de Muro tourist office calls the shallow water near the shore the main reason to come here with children (as of 09/2026, playademuro.net). For you, this means you should choose a hotel not by its star rating, but by the beach nearby and the children's facilities on site.

How to choose a hotel in Mallorca for a family vacation

In the north, hotels line the Bay of Alcudia and Playa de Muro beach. The sand here is fine, the water entry is gentle, and getting between resorts by bus is easy. If you're traveling with toddlers, pay attention to the distance to the beach: in Playa de Muro and Can Picafort, some hotels sit on the second line, 250-600 m from the water (per the map).

In Palma, Playa de Palma, and Portals Nous, the beaches are shorter, but you'll have an easier time with trips into the city and excursions. Choose the east and west of the island for the coves and cliffs, but check in advance whether the hotel has a children's pool. The Serra de Tramuntana mountains run along the northwest of the island.

A new family hotel in Port d'Alcudia, where rooms are designed for groups of four to six guests. There are six buildings, all four stories, with some rooms facing the bay. Interiors are done in coffee and cream tones.

The hotel is set in the middle of the Albufera pine park, 250 m from the white-sand beach and a 10-minute walk from the center of Can Picafort (according to the map).
