Where to go to the sea in Antalya: 8 beaches for swimming and kids
Antalya's beaches stretch along the Mediterranean coast for dozens of kilometers. Choosing one is hard. Each district has its own shoreline, its own seabed, and its own way into the water. Some areas are sandy and gently sloping, others are pebbly and steep.
We've rounded up eight spots where both locals and visitors swim. Entry to Antalya's public beaches is free, and at paid sections you only pay extra for a sunbed and umbrella (as of 09/2026, official tourism portal). For families with kids, sandy Lara is more convenient; for a calm swim right in the city, pebbly Konyaaltı works well.
Below are eight areas with photos, how to get there, and an honest catch for each. At the end, we break down beaches for kids and hotels by the sea.

Where to go to the beach in Antalya
💡 In short:
- Look for sand and a gentle entry in Lara, pebbles and mountain views in Konyaaltı.
- Rocks, coves, and diving await at Topçam, Kaputaş, and Mouse Island.
- Entry to public beaches is free, you only pay for a sunbed and umbrella.
- Prices and hours: 09/2026, verified on the official tourism portal.
Choose a beach by its seabed, not by the photos. Sand is comfortable for toddlers, coarse pebbles are easier on the knees, and rocky platforms give you the clearest water. Below is a comparison of the areas by surface and entry.
Beach | Surface | Entry | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
Lara | sand | free and paid | families with kids |
Konyaaltı | pebbles | free and paid | those staying in the city |
Topçam | sand and pebbles | free | quiet and picnics |
Kaputaş | pebbles | free | views and photos |
Mermerli | platform | paid | short swims |
Beach Park | sand and greenery | free and paid | nightlife and sports |
Adalar | rocks | free | solitude by the water |
Mouse Island | sand | boat trip | diving and boat rides |
1. Adalar
© Tanya Dedyukhina · CC BYPhoto: Tanya Dedyukhina, CC BY (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0), Wikimedia CommonsAdalar is a quiet recreation area by the rocks within the city limits. Ancient cliffs cut it off from noise and bustle, and a city park with subtropical plants provides shade. Benches and gazebos are good spots for taking in the sea panorama, and stone stairways lead straight down to the water.
Several cafes and small restaurants operate along the shore. You can rent equipment for water skiing, motorboats, yachts, and catamarans on site. The coastline here looks like a mosaic of rocky islets, and each one has its own facilities.
- How to get there: city center, then walk (see map).
- Cost: entry is free, rentals are paid.
- Who it's for: calm swimming away from hotels.
- Not for: toddlers in strollers, the descent over the rocks is steep.
- The catch: rocky seabed near the shore, bring water shoes.
2. Lara
© Jörg Fuhrmann (Intermerker) · CC BY-SAPhoto: Jörg Fuhrmann (Intermerker), CC BY-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), Wikimedia CommonsLara is golden sand and a wide shoreline in the eastern part of Antalya. The entry into the water is long and gentle, so you can walk in easily with little kids. Access to the water goes through gaps between private hotel zones.
Modern hotel complexes, pools, and water parks have grown up along the shore. Concerts take place on the promenade in summer, and sunbeds and umbrellas are set up on the sand during the day. The public section starts next to Lara Kent Park (as of 09/2026, Antalya Tourist Information).
The municipal section is free: sand on one side, bars, cafes, changing rooms, and showers on the other. Other sections are private, but entry is open for a fee.
- How to get there: by bus or taxi from the center, about 15 km (see map).
- Cost: the municipal section is free, private sections are paid.
- Who it's for: kids and relaxing sunbathing on the sand.
- Not for: those looking for a pebbly seabed and clear water.
- The catch: part of the shoreline is taken up by hotels, look for free access through the passageways.
3. Beach Park
Beach Park is a green strip along the shore in central Antalya. Palm and eucalyptus trees provide shade, with sunbeds, umbrellas, and shower cabins nearby. Sports equipment rental runs all day.
The park is known for restaurants, cafes, and bars for any budget. For kids there are swings, trampolines, and playgrounds; for younger crowds, night discos and open-air concerts. From the water you get a view of the cliffs and the old town.
Entry to some sections is paid, but it's open around the clock. Nearby are the Archaeological Museum, the old town of Kaleiçi, Atatürk parks, a dolphinarium, and a water park.
- How to get there: city center, then walk (see map).
- Cost: some entrances are paid, rentals are paid.
- Who it's for: sports, walks, and evening relaxation.
- Not for: quiet solitude in peak season.
- The catch: noisy in the evening, music and crowds near the discos.
4. Konyaaltı
© Sinan Şahin · CC BYPhoto: Sinan Şahin, CC BY (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0), Wikimedia CommonsKonyaaltı is fine pebbles and a long promenade in the western part of the city. You can reach the recreation area by tram and see the city along the way. The strip stretches for about 7 km (as of 09/2026, Visit Türkiye).
The beach is divided into two parts. A paid side with sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and cafes, and a wild side with toilets and trash bins. Residential neighborhoods are across the road, so accommodation here is cheaper and closer to the water.
A pedestrian bridge from the city park leads to the shore. Nearby are an amusement park with a Ferris wheel, a dolphinarium, and a water park with night discos. During a yacht trip you'll be shown the old houses of the center.
- How to get there: by tram to a stop near the coast (see map).
- Cost: entry is free, sunbed and umbrella are paid.
- Who it's for: those staying in the city who want to reach the sea quickly.
- Not for: those who prefer sand over pebbles.
- The catch: crowded in high season, and it gets deep quickly near the shore.
5. Mermerli
Mermerli is the smallest beach in the city and the first in its history. You can get here through the Mermerli restaurant. A wooden staircase descends straight to the water, which is protected by breakwaters.
The beach is separated from neighboring sections and keeps a calm atmosphere. Sunbeds, umbrellas, changing rooms, and shower cabins are arranged compactly. You enter the sea from a platform, and a cold spring flows from the rocks.
The spot is too tight for broad water activities. A yacht harbor is nearby, but the boats don't interfere with swimming in the clean water. From a boat deck you get a view of the Lower Düden Waterfall and the old harbor.
- How to get there: old town of Kaleiçi, then walk down (see map).
- Cost: entry is paid, as are sunbeds and umbrellas.
- Who it's for: a short swim near the sights.
- Not for: those who want open space and a long shoreline.
- The catch: tight space, few free spots in season.
6. Topçam
Topçam lies in Olympos National Park, about 10 km from the center (see map). It's a favorite spot for locals: on weekends they grill kebabs and relax with their families. Most people get here by car.
The shore is sandy-pebbly, the water is clean, and the surroundings are quiet and green. There are no loud bars or cafes with music here. Instead, scuba divers and snorkeling enthusiasts come, drawn by a small island opposite the shore.
Entry to the beach area is free, while sunbeds, umbrellas, and equipment rental are paid. Along the shore there are tables, benches, canopies, shower cabins, and toilets. A pier is nearby, from which boats depart for the island.
- How to get there: by car or taxi, about 10 km from the center (see map).
- Cost: entry is free, services are paid.
- Who it's for: families, picnics, and diving.
- Not for: those who want bars, music, and parties.
- The catch: harder to reach without your own transport.
7. Kaputas
© Wusel007 · CC BY-SAPhoto: Wusel007, CC BY-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0), Wikimedia CommonsKaputas hides in a gorge between high cliffs near Kas. Fine pebbles and turquoise water in different shades make it the most photographed beach in the country. Small islands sit just off the shore.
There are no modern hotels or nightclubs here. You relax alone with nature, and the only amenities are umbrellas, with no loungers. The area has showers, toilets, a small cafe, and a restaurant.
This is the most remote area in Antalya. You get down via a long staircase (as of 09/2026, Antalya Tourist Information), and the entry into the sea is steep, so you need to be careful with children. But the color of the water makes the trip worth it.
- How to get there: by car on the D400 highway between Kas and Kalkan (see map).
- Cost: entry is free, umbrellas are paid.
- Who it's for: for photos, swimming, and views.
- Not for: families with a stroller and small children.
- The catch: a long steep descent and climb back up, little shade in summer.
8. Mouse Island
© александр--161 · CC BYPhoto: александр--161, CC BY (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0), Wikimedia CommonsMouse Island lies between Antalya and Beldibi. First you go by bus, then you take a ferry or a boat. This uninhabited patch of land is covered with green hills and coniferous trees.
The island has no official name, so locals call it different things: Mouse Island, Unfaithful Wives Island, Turtle Island. Each name has an old legend behind it. You can hear them during a yacht or catamaran trip.
Around the island you can swim, snorkel, and relax on golden sand. The pine-scented air is considered beneficial for respiratory conditions. Divers from different countries love the underwater world here, so there are plenty of visitors.
- How to get there: by bus to the pier, then by ferry or boat (see map).
- Cost: transport and the boat trip are paid.
- Who it's for: for diving, snorkeling, and sea excursions.
- Not for: those who want to lie on a beach by their hotel.
- The catch: you can only get there by water, you need a boat.
Which beach to choose for a family trip with kids
Start with the child's age. Many beaches in Antalya have a steep drop into the water, and they are inconvenient with a stroller or a very small child. When choosing a hotel, check the beach type and the distance to the sea. Each resort area of the city has its own characteristics.
The best area for a trip with kids is Lara. The shoreline here is wide, covered with soft white sand, and a park and playgrounds run along it. The entry into the sea is shallow and gentle, and the hotels offer a high level of service. Good conditions for toddlers are in place here.
Older kids can do water activities with instructors on the same Lara shore. Nearby are the Aqualand water park, a dolphinarium, Aktur Park amusement park, a Ferris wheel, and carousels. The Balon Park entertainment center with a trampoline, inflatable slides, a climbing wall, and a maze keeps children of any age busy.
- How to choose: check the entry into the water and the beach surface at your hotel.
- For toddlers: sandy Lara with a gentle entry.
- For school-age kids: a water park, dolphinarium, and amusement parks nearby.
- The catch: on pebble and rocky beaches a stroller is difficult, so bring a sling or a baby carrier.
Hotels with a private beach

Antalya is one of the largest resorts in Turkey on the Mediterranean coast. In high season it is hard to find a free spot on the beach, so many travelers choose a hotel with its own shoreline. The city has hundreds of accommodation options, and some of them are modern all-inclusive complexes.

Best time to visit
A beach vacation in Antalya falls in the summer months. The water warms up best at this time, and the air becomes noticeably warmer than the sea. From December to April the coast is cool, but the nearby mountains are home to the Saklıkent ski resort.
In winter, hotels offer more discounts and bonuses, so the trip works out cheaper. For vacations with children and older people, late spring and early fall are better: the sea is warm and the heat is milder. In summer, plan swimming for the morning and evening, and protect yourself from the sun during the day.
- For swimming: May through October, the water is warmest in summer.
- For saving money: winter, when hotels lower prices.
- For families: late spring and early fall.

⁉️🤔 Frequently asked questions
Which Antalya beach should I choose for swimming with children?
Lara is best for little ones. It has a wide sandy shore and a long, gentle slope into the water, with a park and playgrounds running along the beach. Lara hotels have pools and kids' activities. The pebbly Konyaaltı and Mermerli with its platform also work, but the water entry there is steeper and deeper.
Do I need to pay to enter Antalya beaches?
City beaches such as Konyaaltı, Lara, and Topçam are free. You only pay for loungers, umbrellas, and equipment rental in the serviced sections. Enclosed beaches are found at Mermerli and on the private grounds of Beach Park. In summer, grab a free lounger on a popular shore early in the morning.
How do I get to Kaputaş Beach?
Kaputaş lies on the D400 highway between Kaş and Kalkan, and it's easiest to reach by car or dolmuş. A long staircase leads from the road down to the water, so wear comfortable shoes. Parking along the highway is limited, so in summer arrive at opening time.
Where in Antalya is the shore sandy, and where is it pebbly?
You'll find sand at Lara Beach and near Mouse Island, which is why families with children go there. Pebbles cover Konyaaltı and Kaputaş, where the water is cleaner and clearer. Topçam has a mixed sand-and-pebble shore. Rocky platforms and stones near the shore remain at Adalar and Mermerli Beach.
When is the best time to go to the sea in Antalya?
The swimming season runs from May through October. In summer the water is warmest, but the beaches are crowded and the heat is intense. Late spring and early fall offer warm water and fewer tourists. In winter the sea is cool, but the Saklıkent ski resort is open nearby.
In short: what to book
Choose a hotel based on the shore surface and distance to the sea, not the star rating. In summer, book ahead; in winter, prices are lower.
- If you're traveling with little ones: book a hotel on sandy Lara.
- If you want to stay in the city: look at Konyaaltı hotels.
- If you're looking for quiet: plan for Topçam and Kaputaş.
- If you want diving: choose the shore near Mouse Island.
