Where in Cyprus there is sand and a gentle entry: 16 beaches from Protaras to Paphos
⛱️ Cyprus: 16 sandy beaches from Protaras to Paphos. Where the entry is gentle and lifeguards are present, sunbed…
Read more →The destination is chosen, and now the trip itself has to be put together. This is usually when several questions come up at once: which resort suits your kind of vacation, in which month the sea is already warm, how to get from the airport and what daily budget to plan for. In the "Cyprus" section we have gathered articles that answer these questions one by one.
The first group of articles helps you settle on a place and a time. There is a general piece on how to plan a vacation and what to see on a first trip, along with several resort comparisons: where the beach is the focus, where the nightlife is, where it is quiet, where the ancient sites are. We cover the seasons separately. There is an overview of the whole island, pieces on traveling in May, a month-by-month look at the weather in Paphos and an article on the season in Ayia Napa.
The largest part of the section is about accommodation. These are hotel selections built around a specific need: by a sandy beach, on the beachfront, with a private beach, with their own water park, with a kids' club, adults only, with all-inclusive meals. The selections are also split by category, from three to five stars. For Paphos and Ayia Napa there are separate articles on the areas: which one to choose and which hotels to consider there. Several pieces are devoted to family trips.
The third group deals with getting around, money and things to do outside the hotel. We explain how to get from Paphos airport to the town, and from Larnaca airport to Ayia Napa and Limassol: bus, shuttle, transfer, car rental. There are budget articles for Paphos and Ayia Napa. On the island itself: beaches from Protaras to Paphos, the Troodos villages with Kykkos Monastery and Caledonia Waterfall, Famagusta with the Varosha quarter and Salamis, a driving route and a weekend plan for Paphos.
Each article opens with a short answer to the main question, and the details follow below. Then come the practical sections: how to get there, how much it costs, what to check before you go. For prices and timetables we give the source and the date we checked them, because this kind of information changes quickly. We are direct about the downsides. If a beach is rocky, a hotel is far from the sea or a resort is noisy at night, the text will say so.
The section is meant for people who plan their trip on their own and want to compare options before buying tickets. It suits families with children, couples and anyone going to the island for the first time. It is less suited to those looking for a detailed history of Cyprus or for articles about relocating and long-term stays. We write first and foremost about vacations: resorts, hotels, beaches and trips around the island.
It is easiest to start with the overview pieces on planning a vacation and choosing a resort. Then look at the article on seasons to settle on a month. After that, move on to the hotel selections for your kind of trip and to the pieces on the areas of the resort you have chosen. The articles on getting from the airport and on budget will come in handy closer to the trip. The pieces on Troodos, Famagusta and the driving route will help you plan your days away from the beach.
"Cyprus" is part of the "Europe" section, which in turn belongs to "Destinations". The country has no subsections yet, and all the articles sit in a single list. If you are still comparing options, other countries on the same level are right alongside: "Bulgaria", "France", "Germany", "England", "Belgium", "Denmark", "Finland" and "Andorra". They are organized in the same way.
The section keeps growing, and we update the pieces already published. We check transportation prices, bus timetables and hotel terms against the official websites of the carriers, the airports and the hotels themselves. Check entry rules and insurance questions with the official sources of your own country and of Cyprus: we will point out what exactly to look at, but we do not replace them. Before your trip, open the article you need once more and look at the date of the last check.
