Along the narrow streets you'll pass merchants' shops and Greek and Roman monuments. Cafes and small hotels stand among them, so the ruins here are not separated from the town by a wall. In the center is the restored ancient theater (Side Antik Tiyatrosu).
The theater was built on a Hellenistic plan but with Roman technique. The stage has three tiers, and the frieze on the podium of the first tier shows scenes from the life of Dionysus.
The old town is compact, and you can realistically walk it in a couple of hours. Start with the fortress walls, then head down to the harbor and the temple columns.
