Split airport: how to get to the city center
Split Airport (SPU) is located 25 km west of the city, near Trogir. You can reach the center in half an hour or an hour, and the price difference is huge: a city bus ticket costs about €3, while a taxi will cost several times more.
The choice depends on your arrival time, luggage, and where you are heading: the bus station by the port, a hotel in the center, or an island. Below we break down all the options with prices, stops, and travel times so you can pick the one that fits your situation.

Official shuttle from the airport to the center
💡 In short:
- The shuttle meets every arrival and goes directly to the main bus station by the port.
- A ticket costs about €9, and the ride takes 30-40 minutes.
- Take it if you are flying with suitcases and do not want transfers.
- Shuttle prices and schedule: 09/2026, verified with carrier Platanus.
The bus stops right outside the terminal exit and goes to the main bus station (Autobusni kolodvor). The railway station and the port are nearby, so from here it is easy to continue by ferry or intercity bus.
For many years the route was operated by Pleso prijevoz, but since February 2026 the service has been run by Platanus. The schedule is aligned with flights: the bus leaves about half an hour after landing, so you will catch it even if your flight is delayed.
Buy your ticket online on the Platanus website or from the driver. This option is convenient if you are visiting Split for the first time and do not want to figure out the stops.
City bus No. 37: the cheapest option
Three city lines serve the airport: 2, 37, and 38. Important: you board not at the terminal, but on the main road in front of the airport. You can walk there in a couple of minutes.
Line 37 is the most convenient: it runs from Trogir to Split via the airport and during the day operates roughly every 20 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays. A ticket costs about €3, and you can buy it from the driver or through the Promet Split app (according to Promet Split, 09/2026: line 37 schedule).
The ride takes about 50 minutes. There are no luggage restrictions, but you will have to keep your suitcase with you in the passenger area, and the bus can get crowded at rush hour.
From Trogir, buses depart from 6:00 to 22:00 on weekdays at the top of the hour, at 20 minutes past, and at 40 minutes past. They reach the airport stop in 5-10 minutes (according to Promet Split, 09/2026).
Lines 2 and 38 run much less frequently, and line 38 also takes a roundabout route through the city. So take the 37 if you do not want to wait.
Bus 37 arrives at the local Sukoišan bus station, not the main one. From there, buses 2, 9, 10, and 15 go to Diocletian's Palace.
Taxi, Uber, and Bolt: fast but pricier
A taxi from the airport to the main bus station will get you there in half an hour. Late in the evening the city bus no longer runs, but the shuttle still meets every flight. A taxi at that time helps if you are going straight to your hotel. But you will pay for the speed: the ride costs several times more than a bus ticket.
Taxi prices in Split depend on the season and demand, so in summer the meter easily climbs. A fixed fare agreed in advance is a better deal: you will see the total before the trip. If you do not want to haggle on the spot, you can check private transfers in advance.
Uber and Bolt operate in Split. Sometimes a car booked through the app costs less than an official taxi, especially during the day. Keep in mind that at rush hour the apps raise fares due to high demand.
To save money, take the bus to the main bus station and then get a taxi to your hotel. A short ride across the city will take 5-10 minutes and cost noticeably less. Taxi stands are located near where the bus stops.
If you are staying near Diocletian's Palace, walk even with a suitcase. From the main bus station to the Riva waterfront it is about a 10-15 minute walk, and the palace itself is right behind it.
Pre-booked transfer: a fixed price
A transfer with a fixed price saves you from waiting in line for the bus and haggling with the driver. GetYourGuide offers both private and shared transfers from Split Airport.
You can book a car not only to Split. You can be driven to Trogir, Makarska, Baška Voda, and Tučepi, and a speedboat will take you to the island of Hvar. A private transfer is a good value for a group or a family with children; a shared transfer costs less but waits for other passengers.
Compare options in advance: GetYourGuide tours and transfers show the price and vehicle type before the trip.

⁉️🤔 Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to get from Split Airport to the center?
City bus No. 37 costs about €3, the official Platanus shuttle costs about €9, and a taxi will charge several times more. Line 37 is the cheapest, but it takes longer and stops on the main road. The shuttle is more expensive, but it goes directly to the bus station.
Where does the city bus stop?
Not at the terminal, but on the main road in front of the airport. Exit the building and walk a few minutes to the road: lines 2, 37, and 38 stop there. From Trogir, buses reach the airport in 5-10 minutes, so you usually will not wait long.
Is there transport from the airport at night?
City line 37 runs roughly from 6:00 to 22:00, so do not count on it at night. The shuttle is aligned with flights and leaves after the plane lands. If you arrive late, a fixed-price transfer, Uber, or Bolt will help.
Can I buy a ticket on the bus?
Yes, the driver sells tickets on the city bus, but cash is more reliable than a card. You can also pay through the Promet Split app. For the Platanus shuttle, tickets are sold online on the carrier's website and on the spot by the driver. Card payment on the city line does not always work.
How long is the walk from the bus station to Diocletian's Palace?
From the main bus station by the port to Diocletian's Palace and the Riva waterfront it is about a 10-15 minute walk. From the local Sukoišan bus station the route is longer, so it is more convenient to take a city bus to the center.
In short: what to book
If you are flying during the day and are not in a hurry, take city bus No. 37 for €3. If you are traveling with suitcases and want no transfers, choose the Platanus shuttle for €9. And if you arrive late or are going straight to your hotel, a fixed-price transfer will come in handy: compare transfers from Split Airport.
