The festival has been held in Alpe d'Huez since 2019. Over seven days, more than 150 artists take the stage, and the resort welcomes over 30,000 guests (figures and facts on the festival website). You stay in the village and combine skiing with concerts: during the day you cover kilometers of slopes, and in the evening you head down to the venues.

Stages are set up both in the village itself and high in the mountains, up to 3,330 meters (Alpe d'Huez resort). The ski area has more than 250 km of slopes in total (Alpe d'Huez resort website). Previous lineups included Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, and Henri Pfr, and the 2027 lineup will be announced closer to the sales date.

Alpe d'Huez: a resort at 1,860 meters

Alpe d'Huez sits on a southern plateau at 1,860 meters, and the resort's highest point reaches 3,330 meters (according to the Alpe d'Huez tourist office). The area gets around 300 sunny days a year. Thanks to the altitude, snow cover lasts a long time. The southern slopes also mean plenty of sun on the runs.

The runs are divided by level. Beginners will find plenty of wide slopes near the village, while experienced skiers can enjoy long descents from the upper station. Lift lines are shorter in the morning, so take the first lift up. If you arrive without gear, rentals are available right in the village.

How to get to Alpe d'Huez

The nearest major city is Grenoble, about an hour from the resort by car or bus. From Lyon, the drive takes roughly two hours (according to the resort website).

By train, the most convenient option is to Grenoble: TGV and TER trains run from Paris, Lyon, and Marseille, and from there you can take a bus or taxi (resort transport). During the season, daily shuttles run from Lyon airport (transfers and accommodation).

If you're driving, allow extra time for the climb. In winter, cars move slowly along the final switchbacks.

What to do besides concerts

Skiing and snowboarding take up the first half of the day, but the resort has more to offer. The village has an ice rink, pools, and a cinema, and there are sledding routes near the slopes. One free day is enough to try dog sledding or a paragliding flight over the valley.
