Where to stay in Batumi: three districts and hotels for every scenario
The center of Batumi and New Boulevard differ more than the map suggests. In the center you book a hotel a two-minute walk from the Argo cable car, while on New Boulevard you get an apartment with a kitchen for the price of a hostel.
We looked at three districts where tourists most often stay and named specific hotels for each travel scenario. Prices, hours, and distances were checked by the editorial team on 09/12/2026: a source link appears next to each figure.

- For a first trip, choose the center: Hotel Old Town, Boutique Hotel 32, or Marani Hotel.
- With kids, a kitchen, and laundry: apart-hotels on New Boulevard.
- For a sea view: the seaside zone with Sheraton Batumi Hotel, Radisson Blu, and Hilton Batumi.
- Best weather and prices: September.
Scenario | Hotel | District |
|---|---|---|
First time in Batumi | Hotel Old Town | Center |
Best location | Boutique Hotel 32 | Center |
Trip with kids | Blue Sky Apart-hotel | New Boulevard |
Luxury with a sea view | Radisson Blu Hotel Batumi | Seaside zone |
Business trip | Hilton Batumi | Seaside zone |
Closest to the beach | Sheraton Batumi Hotel | Seaside zone |
Apartment with a kitchen | Orbi City Sea Side Hotel Luxury | New Boulevard |
Budget | Marani Hotel | Center |
Mid-range by the sea | Best Western Plus Batumi | New Boulevard |
Below we go through the districts one by one. That way you will understand exactly what you are paying for when you pick an address.
Three districts of Batumi: a comparison
Batumi stretches along the coast, so the district determines two things: how much you will walk and how much you will pay per night. Most attractions cluster in the seaside zone in the north of the city. New Boulevard runs further south and is built up with high-rise apartment towers. The old quarter, also known as Beregi, sits a couple of blocks from the seaside zone.
District | Who it's for | Lodging | Beach | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Center and Old Town (Beregi) | First trip, budget | Boutique hotels and family-run guesthouses | On foot | Crowded in summer, limited parking |
New Boulevard (Pivzavod) | Families, longer trips | Apart-hotels with kitchens | Next to the high-rises | Farther from the main attractions |
Seaside zone (Sea Side Zone) | Luxury and sea views | High-end chain hotels | First line | Noisy in high season |
The center is convenient because the Argo cable car, Piazza Square, and Batumi Cathedral are all nearby. The flip side of dense development: in summer you spend longer looking for parking than driving, and cafes can have lines.
New Boulevard is quieter and cheaper, but you reach the main sights by transport. The seaside zone gives you the most impressions for the highest price: beach and restaurants on the first line, but August is noisy. Choose a district based on your travel scenario, not on the price of the first night.
Batumi center and old town (Beregi)
© Jelger Groeneveld · CC BYPhoto: Jelger Groeneveld, CC BY (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0), Wikimedia CommonsThe center occupies a compact block between the sea and Batumi Cathedral. Here you will find budget guesthouses, coffee shops, and a couple of craft beer bars that are gradually appearing in Georgia. You can walk around the center on foot. For a first trip, that is the main argument.
The Argo cable car operates near the center. A round-trip ticket costs 39 lari for adults and 9 lari for children aged 5-11; the lift is open daily from 10:00 to 00:00 (as of 09/2026, verified on argo-batumi.ge). From the upper station you will see the whole city, the port, and the sea, so the ride is worth putting on your first-day plan.
From the center it is easy to walk to Piazza Square and Batumi Cathedral. Booking two or three nights in this district makes sense if you are visiting for the first time and do not want to depend on transport.
Hotel Old Town
Hotel Old Town sits 900 m from the shore, in the very heart of the old center (as of 09/2026, oldtown.ge). The hotel has a rooftop bar and restaurant with a city view, and the facade faces historic buildings. The rooms are simple, so the hotel is often booked for the address and the terrace.

- Who it's for: first trip, couples, rooftop dinner
- The catch: rooms are simple, do not expect luxury details
- Price: Hotel Old Town rates on Trip.com
Boutique Hotel 32
A small hotel in the center that the editorial team highlights for the best location in this selection. You can walk to the embankment, Piazza Square, and the Argo cable car, so you will barely need a taxi. The format suits those who are coming for a few days and want to stay in the middle of the action.

- Who it's for: couples and short trips when the address matters
- Price: rooms at Boutique Hotel 32
Marani Hotel
Marani Hotel has the lowest price of the three, although the walk to the main streets is longer than from the first two hotels. This is a family-run guesthouse, and the service here is home-style, without chain-hotel scale. An option for those who save on lodging and are willing to walk an extra block.

- Who it's for: budget trips for a few nights
- The catch: you walk to the center of the action rather than stepping out into it
- Price: prices at Marani Hotel on Trip.com
What's nearby: the Argo Cable Car, Piazza Square, and Batumi Cathedral are marked on the city center map. Restaurants in the center that made the list include Heart of Batumi, Cafe Adjara, and Liman Restaurant; bars include Maximus Taproom and Sami Ludi.
New Boulevard: apart-hotels for families
© Sosotedrd · CC BY-SAPhoto: Sosotedrd, CC BY-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), Wikimedia CommonsNew Boulevard occupies the southern stretch of Batumi's coastline. High-rises are going up here, and many apartments are rented out as apart-hotels with a kitchen and washing machine. If you're traveling as a family for a week, this format works out cheaper than a hotel with breakfast.
The area is quieter than the center. The beach runs right along the same buildings. Amusement park rides, including Batumi Luna Park, are nearby, so kids have plenty to do off the beach.
Blue Sky Apart-hotel
Based on the Blue Sky Apart-hotel description, you get clean, spacious apartments with home conveniences at a price level closer to a hostel. For the city, it's one of the best-value options when you need a kitchen and space for a family. The catch of this format is common to the whole area: there's no hotel service in the usual sense.
© 23artashes · CC BY-SAPhoto: 23artashes, CC BY-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), Wikimedia Commons- Location: New Boulevard, along the shoreline
- Who it's for: families and longer trips, because there's a kitchen
- The catch: fewer hotel services than at a chain hotel
- Price: prices at Blue Sky Apart-hotel
Orbi city sea side hotel luxury
Orbi city sea side hotel luxury combines high-end conveniences with a moderate price. The high-rise sits on New Boulevard, so you're staying by the sea and at the same time in a quiet part of the city. Go with this option if you want hotel-level quality at apartment prices.
- Location: New Boulevard, the high-rise district
- Who it's for: those who want hotel conveniences at apartment prices
- Price: prices at Orbi City on Trip.com
Best western plus batumi
Best western plus batumi operates as a classic chain hotel on New Boulevard. It's a good fit if you need a standard hotel format rather than private apartments: a front desk, uniform booking policies, and a predictable room inventory.
© 23artashes · CC BY-SAPhoto: 23artashes, CC BY-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), Wikimedia Commons- Location: New Boulevard
- Who it's for: those who need a hotel, not apartments
- Price: prices at Best western plus batumi
Pros of New Boulevard: apart-hotels are cheaper than hotels at the same distance from the sea, there's a kitchen and laundry, and the area is quieter than the center.
Cons of New Boulevard: you have to drive or ride to the main attractions, the selection of regular hotels is limited, and the area has less character than the old center.
Seaside area: hotels near the beach
The seaside area brings together Batumi's main attractions and the city's most expensive hotels. The Sheraton Batumi Hotel, Radisson Blu, and Hilton Batumi are all located here, and many rooms have sea views. The beach, Miracle Park, the Alphabet Tower, and the dancing fountains are all within the district, so you won't need a car.
Sheraton Batumi Hotel
The editorial team highlights Sheraton Batumi Hotel for its range of amenities: a seasonal outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a spa with a hammam, and a fitness center. On the 20th floor, there's a restaurant and bar with a 360° panoramic view, the only one of its kind in the city (as of 09/2026, marriott.com). The hotel welcomes pets, so you can bring your dog.
- Location: seaside area, near the beach
- Who it's for: couples, special occasions, guests with pets
- Price: rates at Sheraton Batumi
Radisson Blu Hotel Batumi
Radisson Blu sits on the first line by the water: the Black Sea beaches start right at the hotel (according to radissonhotels.com). The hotel has 168 rooms, so the choice of room types here is wider than at the boutique hotels in the center (as of 09/2026, radissonhotels.com).
- Location: seaside area, first line
- Who it's for: couples and business trips when a sea view matters
- Price: rooms at Radisson Blu
Hilton Batumi
Hilton Batumi rounds out the trio of seaside-area hotels. It's an option for business trips and travel where the standards of a major chain and proximity to the sea are important. If you're earning loyalty program points, compare it with Radisson Blu for your dates.
© Kharkil · CC BY-SAPhoto: Kharkil, CC BY-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), Wikimedia Commons- Location: seaside area, near the beach
- Who it's for: business trips and family travel
- Price: rates at Hilton Batumi
Pros of the seaside area: you can walk to the beach and the main attractions, and in summer there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.
The catch of the seaside area: it's noisy and crowded in high season, and some of the beachfront cafes only operate in summer.

When to go to Batumi: September instead of August
AIIllustrative image: AI-generatedIn summer, Batumi shifts into festival mode: beaches, music, and plenty of visitors and remote workers. You pay for it with crowds and high accommodation prices. In September, the flow subsides, but the weather stays summery.
The sea temperature in September averages around +25 °C (as of 09/2026, seatemperatures.net). Room prices are dropping, and some summer restaurants are still open. That's why the editorial team considers September and early October the best time to visit: you get the same sea without the August crowds. Keep in mind that Batumi gets frequent rain in September and October, so bring a rain jacket.
Hotels and apart-hotels: what's the difference
Many Batumi hotels operate as apart-hotels or as apartments under a hotel sign. The properties are usually fine, but the range of services differs from what you'd expect: some apart-hotels don't offer the full set of hotel functions. So before booking, check what's included in the rate and don't rely on the word Hotel in the name alone.
The second trap is similar names: the words Sea Side, Luxury, and City repeat across dozens of listings. Book the option from the link in the selection above, because it leads to a specific hotel, not a similarly named one.
What to try and what to bring
AIIllustrative image: AI-generatedIn Batumi, you should try Adjarian khachapuri. Adjara is known for its dough boat filled with cheese and egg, and this is the local version of Georgian khachapuri. The portion is filling, so one is enough for two people, and we don't recommend ordering a second dish right away.
The second point is about packing. Batumi and its surroundings remain the rainiest region of Georgia, so bring a rain jacket even if the forecast is dry. There's less rain in summer, but the weather on the Black Sea changes quickly.
Plan day trips too: Batumi is a convenient base for one-day trips around Adjara. If you want to see more, set aside full days for these trips, not half a day.
How to get around Batumi

Batumi is walkable: the center and the seafront area are close together, and a boulevard runs along the sea. If you don't feel like walking, take an electric scooter. They're parked all over the city, and you install the app via the QR code on the handlebars.
A scooter also helps in the rain: you'll get to your hotel faster than waiting for a taxi. For longer trips around Adjara, it's better to rent a car or book a transfer in advance.
⁉️🤔 Frequently asked questions
Which area should I choose in Batumi for a first trip?
For a first trip, go with the center and the Old Town (Beregi). From there you can walk to the seafront, Piazza Square, and the Argo cable car, and the selection of cafes and budget guesthouses is the widest here. If quiet and an in-room kitchen matter more, look at New Boulevard.
Where to stay in Batumi with kids?
With kids, New Boulevard is more convenient. Local apart-hotels offer a kitchen and laundry, and prices are lower than hotel rates. Nearby you'll find park attractions, including the Batumi amusement park, and Batumi Beach stretches along the coast. Good hotel options include Blue Sky Apart-hotel and Orbi City Sea Side Hotel Luxury.
How much does the Argo cable car cost?
A round-trip ticket costs 39 lari for adults and 9 lari for children aged 5-11 (as of 09/2026, verified on the official Argo website). You'll find hours and tips for the ride above, in the section about central Batumi.
Can you swim in Batumi in September?
Yes, the editorial team considers September the best month for the sea. The water averages around +25 °C (according to water temperature data, 09/2026), the tourist flow drops after September 1, and accommodation prices go down. The beach runs along the entire boulevard, so you can walk to the water from first-line hotels.
How is an apart-hotel in Batumi different from a regular hotel?
In an apart-hotel you get an apartment: a kitchen, a washing machine, often a separate bedroom. For more on how they differ, see the section above, "Hotels and apart-hotels: what's the difference."
In short: what's worth booking
If it's your first trip and you're on a limited budget, go with the center: Hotel Old Town, Boutique Hotel 32, or Marani Hotel. If you're traveling as a family for a week and want to cook, look at apart-hotels on New Boulevard: Blue Sky Apart-hotel and Orbi City Sea Side Hotel Luxury. If a sea view and hotel quality matter, choose the seafront area: Sheraton Batumi Hotel, Radisson Blu, or Hilton Batumi.
You can compare all options at once on Trip.com, and check city and Adjara tours on GetYourGuide.
Decide on the area before booking and reserve your hotel in advance: in September the selection is wider and prices are lower.
