Terminals T2 and T5 are closed. That means old airport maps are hopelessly outdated, and you risk arriving at the wrong entrance. The current map is always shown on the electronic boards in the hall.

Inside the complex you'll find everything you need during a layover: free Wi-Fi, cafes and bars, pharmacy vending machines, ATMs, and currency exchange offices. Exchange offices are open roughly from morning until late evening, while around the clock it's easier to withdraw cash from an ATM. For parents, there is a mother and baby room where you can feed and change your little one in peace. It's a better way to get through a long layover than the general waiting area, where finding a free seat in the evening is nearly impossible.

Moving between terminals

Buses to Rome

Cotral, Terravision, and SIT buses depart from the arrivals area to Termini station and cost less than the train. They take longer than the railway: in the morning and evening you'll hit traffic entering the city.

The catch with the bus is luggage and night arrivals. You load your suitcase yourself, and after midnight some routes don't run at all, so don't plan on a bus for a late arrival. Tickets are sold by the driver and online, seats are not assigned.

The regional train is cheaper, but it stops at intermediate stations and is less suited for large luggage: the step up into the car is high and space is limited. On the plus side, you can get off at Trastevere or Tiburtina without going into the center.
