Barcelona in the center means one thing: everything is close. La Rambla borders the Gothic Quarter, so the old lanes begin right behind the boulevard.

A room above a bar in the Gothic Quarter will keep you up until three in the morning, while a hotel on Passeig de Gràcia sits away from the bars. On the other hand, the walk to the beach from Eixample takes longer than from the Gothic Quarter.

Look at three things: address, soundproofing, and breakfast. If you're here for three days and want to see everything on foot, stay between La Rambla and Passeig de Gràcia.
