Where to stay in Pattaya: three areas and ten hotels

Pattaya stretches along the bay, and its neighborhoods are nothing alike. In the center, the music never stops; to the north, resorts sit right at the water's edge; and to the south, you'll find a long, quiet beach at a lower price. Three things depend on the neighborhood: how quiet it is, the nightly rate, and the walk to the sea.

Choosing a neighborhood matters more than choosing a specific hotel, and it's best to decide before you book. Below, we break down the center, the north, and the south, and we recommend hotels in each area. The main nightlife hub, Walking Street, sits at the southern corner of the center (open on map). We checked prices and availability on official hotel websites in September 2026.

Which neighborhood to stay in Pattaya

💡 In short:

  • Pattaya is divided into three parts: the center, the north with Naklua and Wong Amat, and the south with Pratumnak and Jomtien.
  • For bars and clubs, pick the center; for a quiet beach, go north or south.
  • Hotel prices and availability: 09/2026, verified on official hotel websites, for example on the official website of Pullman Pattaya Hotel G.

Central Pattaya runs along Beach Road, and its loudest section lies to the south. That's where the bars, clubs, and karaoke joints are, the ones that gave the city its rowdy reputation. Walking Street buzzes late into the night, so a hotel near it only works for those who came for the parties. A bit further north, near Central Festival Pattaya Beach mall, it's noticeably calmer. The sea is still a five-minute walk away (per the map), but the music no longer keeps you up at night.

North Pattaya is made up of Naklua and Wong Amat beach, and the city's best beaches are right here. Large resorts sit directly on the water, and there's more greenery between them than in the center. Prices in Naklua are higher than in the center and the south, but in the evening all you'll hear is the sound of the waves. Families and couples who want the beach right outside their window choose this area.

To the south are Pratumnak, Jomtien, and Na Jomtien, and it's quieter there than in the center. Jomtien stretches along a long sandy strip, Pratumnak sits on a hill between the center and Jomtien, and Na Jomtien remains the calmest of all. Accommodation in Jomtien is cheaper than in Naklua, and the center is about ten minutes away by local pickup truck, per the map.

The beaches in Pattaya also differ from one another. In the center, it's a wide strip along Beach Road with loungers, umbrellas, and motorboats right at the shore. In Naklua and Wong Amat, the water is calmer, and there are noticeably fewer vendors and boats, so it's easier to swim with kids there. Jomtien offers the longest sandy shore and a gentle entry into the sea, while Pratumnak has several smaller beaches. In high season, loungers are paid almost everywhere, so bring a towel and water with you.

1. Wave Hotel, central Pattaya

This 5-star boutique hotel sits on Beach Road in the very center, next to Pattaya Beach (per the official website). The room count is small, so in high season rooms sell out early. People come here for the location, not for quiet, and that's worth keeping in mind when booking.

  • Who it's for: couples and guests who want to stay in the middle of the action.
  • Not for: those who need a quiet night's sleep near the sea.
  • Prices: Wave Hotel prices on Trip.com
  • The catch: in the evenings you can hear the bars from Beach Road.

2. Holiday Inn Express, central Pattaya

A chain hotel with predictable quality and breakfast included, suited to those who don't want surprises and value being close to Pattaya's shopping malls. One of the most convenient options for a short stopover in the center.

  • Who it's for: short trips and business travel.
  • Not for: vacationers looking for beachside quiet.
  • Prices: available rooms at Holiday Inn Express
  • The catch: the center is noisy until late at night.

3. Mera Mare, central Pattaya

The hotel is a few steps from Pattaya Beach and a five-minute walk from Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall (according to the official website). Some rooms offer views of the bay and the city. Few hotels in the center combine beach and shopping access this conveniently.

  • Who it's for: couples who want both the beach and shopping nearby.
  • Not for: those who avoid crowded areas.
  • Prices: Mera Mare prices
  • The catch: the beach is a public city beach.

4. The Whisper, central Pattaya

A small hotel set away from the loudest streets of the center, which is why it's often recommended for couples. Prices here are moderate, and the beach is an easy walk away. For the center, this combination of peace and proximity to the sea is rare.

  • Who it's for: couples who value peace and quiet in the center.
  • Not for: those who need direct beach access.
  • Prices: rooms at The Whisper
  • The catch: there is no direct access to the sea; you have to walk to the beach.

5. Travelodge, central Pattaya

Another option for couples: spacious modern rooms and a convenient location, with easy walking access to both the beach and the nightlife streets. The hotel maintains the consistent level of service this chain is known for.

  • Who it's for: couples and groups of friends.
  • Not for: guests who want quiet evenings.
  • Prices: prices at Travelodge Pattaya
  • The catch: the area is lively, especially in the evening.

6. LK Emerald Beach, Naklua

A five-star hotel in Naklua for a quiet seaside vacation in northern Pattaya. Couples often choose it when they want a pool and peace instead of the bars in the center. The area is noticeably calmer than Beach Road, and that is its main advantage.

  • Who it's for: couples and guests who value peace and quiet.
  • Not for: those who want to stay in the middle of the nightlife.
  • Prices: prices at LK Emerald Beach
  • The catch: prices in Naklua are higher than in the center.

7. Pullman Pattaya Hotel G, Wong Amat

  • Who it's for: couples and families with children.
  • Not for: guests who plan to spend every evening in the center.
  • Prices: rooms at Pullman Pattaya Hotel G
  • The catch: you need to travel to get to central Pattaya.

8. COSI Pattaya Wong Amat Beach, Naklua

A lifestyle hotel from the Centara chain near Wong Amat Beach, with a pool and a gym (according to the official website). Prices here are lower than at neighboring resorts, so the hotel works well for those who want the north side on a tighter budget.

  • Who it's for: young couples and budget travelers.
  • Not for: those who care about being close to the nightlife.
  • Prices: prices at COSI Wong Amat
  • The catch: it is far from the nightlife and the center.

9. Westbury Residence, Jomtien

An aparthotel in the south of the city, in Jomtien, offering studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments. It is a good fit if you are coming for a week and want to cook for yourself. For a longer vacation, it is one of the practical options in the south.

  • Who it's for: families and longer trips.
  • Not for: those who need the city center and nightlife.
  • Prices: prices at Westbury Residence
  • The catch: you need to travel to get to the center.

10. Cross Pattaya Pratamnak, Pratamnak

A hotel on Pratamnak Hill across from Pratamnak Beach. It has 78 rooms, a saltwater pool, and the restaurant offers a sunset view over the bay (according to the official website). Some rooms have sea views.

  • Who it's for: couples and families who care about the view.
  • Not for: those who want to step out of the hotel right onto the sand.
  • Prices: rooms at Cross Pattaya Pratamnak
  • The catch: the beach is across the road, not right at the hotel.

How to get around Pattaya's neighborhoods

Pattaya stretches along the coast, so you won't walk the whole city on foot. A local pickup truck runs between the center and Jomtien along Beach Road and Second Road; the fare is a few dozen baht, but check the exact price on the spot. Taxis and ride-hailing apps also work, and prices go up in high season.

Getting between Naklua and the center is also easy by pickup truck or taxi. If you're staying in Pratamnak, you can walk to Jomtien and take a pickup truck to the center. You don't need your own car in Pattaya: renting one only makes sense for trips outside the city.

The pickup truck stops when you wave your hand, and you get off by pressing the button on the ceiling. Keep small bills in your pocket so you can pay without holding up the stop. At night the trucks run less often, so leave yourself extra time for a late outing.

⁉️🤔 Frequently asked questions

Which Pattaya neighborhood should I stay in on my first visit?

For a first visit, it's most convenient to stay in the center, near Beach Road. From there you can easily walk to the beach, malls, and cafes, and you'll reach Walking Street in a few minutes. If quiet matters more to you, look at Jomtien or Naklua. They're calmer in the evening, but you'll have to take a pickup truck to the center.

Which is cheaper: the center or Jomtien?

In Jomtien, accommodation is on average cheaper than in the center, and especially cheaper than in Naklua. For the same money you'll get a bigger room closer to the beach. The catch is that nightlife and the main shops are in the center, so you'll have to travel there. For a long seaside vacation, Jomtien is the better value.

Where is Pattaya quietest?

The quietest areas are Na Jomtien and northern Naklua, away from Beach Road. Pratamnak is also calm: the streets are quiet and there are few bars. The noisiest spots are the southern part of the center and Walking Street. If music keeps you from sleeping, don't book a hotel near Walking Street.

Can you walk from the hotel to the beach in Pattaya?

Yes, in the center almost all hotels are within a few minutes' walk of Pattaya Beach (on the map). In Naklua, it's usually a five to ten minute walk to Wong Amat Beach. In Jomtien, first-line hotels open right onto the sand. In Pratamnak, some hotels sit on the hill, and a downhill path leads to the beach.

Should I book a hotel in advance?

In high season, from December to March, the best rooms sell out weeks ahead. Small hotels in the center like Wave Hotel or The Whisper fill up especially fast. Book in advance if you're traveling for New Year's or the holidays. In low season, there's more choice and prices are lower.
