15 Maldives all-inclusive resorts: how to choose and get there

Maldives sells a dream, and reality sends the bill. A five-star resort with an all-inclusive package easily runs several hundred euros per night.

Demand is growing: by September 2025, more than 1.5 million tourists had visited the country (as of: Maldives Ministry of Tourism, September 2025). The hotels in this selection differ in four ways: the trip from Malé airport, what the all-inclusive rate includes, villa types, and who each resort is for.

Half of the islands are within a 30-minute speedboat ride from the capital. To reach the outer atolls, you fly by seaplane or domestic flight, and that changes both the price and travel time. Below are 15 five-star resorts with honest details on each.

How to choose a hotel in the Maldives

1. Paradise island resort & spa 5*

Paradise Island sits on Lankanfinolhu Island in North Malé. White beaches ring the island, and the lagoon holds its aquamarine color almost to the shore.

Accommodations here are private: villas and bungalows sit right by the water. Paved paths run from the rooms into the island's interior, connecting the beach, restaurants, sports facilities, and spa. You can easily walk from your villa to a restaurant, no on-island transfer needed.

The resort is large, so you get a choice between quiet days by the water and activities on land. The airport transfer is booked and paid for separately from the room rate.

2. Shangri-La's villingili resort and spa, Maldives 5*

Shangri-La Villingili welcomes guests on Addu Atoll, the southernmost in the archipelago. It was the first luxury resort in the Maldives south of the equator.

The property closed in spring 2020 due to the pandemic and reopened in late 2025 (as of: Maldives news, 2025). If you're choosing it now, book only current dates and check the status on the resort's website.

The island has its own tropical forest and a golf course. Villas line the turquoise shoreline, so you have access to golf, spa, and jungle walks. In the evening, a DJ plays in the lounge.

Getting here takes longer than to resorts near Malé: you fly to Addu Atoll on a domestic flight, not a boat.

3. Velassaru Maldives 5*

Velassaru Maldives is located in South Malé. The hotel offers beachfront and overwater rooms with panoramic views of the open ocean.

The villas are built from thatch, stone, and teak. Minimalist interiors and wooden ceilings create a tropical atmosphere, while air conditioning and a ceiling fan keep you comfortable in the heat. You can book a villa right on the lagoon, with a terrace opening onto the water.

4. Grand park kodhipparu, Maldives 5*

Grand Park Kodhipparu occupies an island in North Malé. You reach the resort by speedboat in about 20 minutes from Velana Airport (as of: 09/2026, official resort website). It's a quick option for those who don't want a seaplane.

The island has six villa types and three restaurants serving four cuisines: international, Maldivian, Mediterranean, and Asian. There's a kids' club, so it's easier to combine beach time and travel with a child.

The spa center offers Ayurveda, Balinese massage, and aromatherapy. Diving and snorkeling run on a schedule from the house reef, and the dive sites around North Male are known for their underwater life.

5. Coco Bodu Hithi 5*

Coco Bodu Hithi is located in North Male. It has one type of accommodation: villas with a private courtyard, a private pool, and a large round bathtub in the center of the room.

Sandy paths around the island lead to a panoramic pool and Asian restaurants with ocean views. In the water around the island you can spot manta rays, reef sharks, and turtles, and near the shore you'll see dolphins.

6. Kurumba Maldives 5*

Kurumba became the first private resort in the Maldives: it opened in 1972 (as of: official website). The island of Vihamanaafushi lies in North Male, not far from the airport.

Traditional style and history here blend with modern services. Several restaurants give you a choice of Mediterranean, Italian, and Middle Eastern cuisine, and a seafood restaurant operates over the water.

The house reef starts almost at the beach, and equipment is booked in advance. Rooms are arranged in clusters along the paths, and villas with private pools are a good fit if you want more privacy.

7. OZEN Reserve Bolifushi (formerly Jumeirah Vittaveli) 5*

The resort has changed brands: the former Jumeirah Vittaveli is now called OZEN Reserve Bolifushi (as of: first-class-and-more, December 2020). If you booked it under the old name, look for the hotel under the new brand.

The resort sits on South Male Atoll, on the island of Bolifushi. From Male Airport you're taken by speedboat in about 20 minutes.

8. Robinson club noonu - all inclusive 5*

Robinson Club Noonu occupies the tiny island of Orivaru in Noonu Atoll. All around you there is only the ocean, white sand, and palms swaying in the wind. In spirit, it is exactly that postcard island.

The water bungalows and villas are built of wood, each with its own pool overlooking the ocean. The overwater houses stand directly above the water, where sharks, rays, and parrotfish swim.

Dusit Thani Maldives sits on Mudhdhoo Island in Baa Atoll. This is the country's first UNESCO biosphere reserve, so the reef and marine life here are protected.

From Male airport, you fly by seaplane for about 35 minutes or take a 25-minute domestic flight plus a 10-minute speedboat ride (as of 09/2026, resort's official website).

Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa sits in the southern South Ari Atoll. Wooden walkways and colonial-style buildings give the resort its distinctive character.

Accommodation includes more than a hundred overwater villas and suites nestled into the green island. The palm-lined beach and lagoon suit both couples and families with children: you'll be comfortable swimming and strolling alike.

12. Kandima Maldives 5*

Kandima Maldives lies in Dhaalu Atoll, one of the most remote in the Maldives: over 170 kilometers from Male airport (as of 09/2026, official website).

Getting there takes time: about 40 minutes by seaplane or roughly 35 minutes by domestic flight plus another 15 minutes by speedboat. In return, you arrive at a quiet atoll with only a handful of inhabited islands.

13. Diamonds Thudufushi - all inclusive 5*

Diamonds Thudufushi sits on the outer edge of South Ari Atoll. The small island has a lagoon and a house reef that is monitored as part of a marine biology program.

Diving comes first here: access to the outer side of the atoll gives you depth and large marine life. There is also a zone for water skiing and windsurfing.

Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa is located in North Male, about a quarter of an hour from the international airport. The island is surrounded by its own lagoon with turquoise water.

The resort is designed in a tropical style and works well for both a quiet getaway and an active vacation. On site there are water sports and restaurants with cuisine from different countries.

Adaaran Prestige Water Villas is built over the water around the island of Meedhupparu. The resort consists of twenty villas, each standing directly above the turquoise lagoon.

Which hotel from this list should I choose for a first trip?

For your first time, pick a resort near Male: Grand Park Kodhipparu, Kurumba, or Sheraton Full Moon. The trip from the airport takes between fifteen minutes and half an hour, with no seaplane and no extra transfers. That way you get to the beach faster and arrive less tired.

What does the all-inclusive rate include?

The All Inclusive format usually covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus most drinks. At Lily Beach, Centara Grand, Diamonds Thudufushi, and Robinson Club Noonu, meals are already included in the price. Check on alcohol and some premium items when booking.

When is the best time to go to the Maldives?

You get to the Baa, Dhaalu, and Addu atolls by seaplane or by domestic flight plus speedboat. The seaplane flight to Dusit Thani in Baa takes about 35 minutes, and to Kandima in Dhaalu, about 40 minutes. Transfers are booked in advance and paid separately from the room rate.
