The catch is something else: "beach" means different things at Istanbul hotels. At one it's a private pier with loungers on the Bosphorus, at another a large pool with a lounge area, at a third a strip of sand steps from the building.

How to choose a hotel with its own beach in Istanbul

A private beach in Istanbul usually looks like this: an equipped area by the water, loungers, umbrellas, a shower, and direct access to the sea from the hotel. Some city hotels have no shoreline at all, and an outdoor pool with a lounge area plays the role of a beach.

So don't look at the word "beach" in the description; look at the neighborhood and at what the hotel calls its shore. The Marmara coast is calmer: there are almost no waves, and you can reach the center by Marmaray or taxi. The Black Sea offers sand and waves, but that means out-of-town Kilyos and Şile, where getting around without a car is inconvenient. Dining is spread across two restaurants and a bar. Breakfast is served at Salamina, where local fruits come with desserts and appetizers; Atrox prepares Mediterranean dishes; and the lounge bar offers a wide range of cocktails and fresh juices. In the evenings, entertainers are on hand.
