In Andorra la Vella, the bus station is almost in the center. You can walk to most hotels in 10-15 minutes or ride a couple of stops on a city bus.

Car: rental, tunnels, and winter driving

The route is simple: you take the C-16 (E-9) highway through Manresa and Berga. Then the road climbs to the Cadí Tunnel and comes out at La Seu d'Urgell. From there it is about 15 minutes on the map to Andorra la Vella.

In winter, the mountains are covered in snow and the road is icy in places. Check road conditions before you leave and ask the rental company whether chains are included. It is better not to drive on summer tires in the snow.
Why you should stay longer in Andorra
Andorra attracts visitors with inexpensive shopping and ski resorts. Instead of Spanish VAT, a 4.5% IGI tax applies here. Prices in local stores are lower than in Spain, so many tourists come here for electronics, perfumes, and sports equipment.
In winter, ski areas open, including Grandvalira. Grandvalira has more than 130 runs and 68 lifts, and the highest point reaches 2,640 meters (as of 09/2026, Grandvalira). Skiing here runs until 17:00.
Coming here for just one day is not worth it. You will not be able to see the shops, go up into the mountains, and return to Barcelona by evening.
