April in Europe is often still cool and rainy. But on many southern coasts it's already warm, dry, and suitable for swimming by this time. Spring pulls you toward the sea, but gathering documents and waiting in line for a visa slow the trip down.

We've put together 22 destinations with easy entry for tourists from Germany. Some countries let you in with no visa at all. Egypt, Jordan, and Tanzania issue a visa on arrival or an e-visa. The high season on the island ended in March. April brings heat and ocean waves, and rain becomes more frequent. Downpours more often come at night, so you can relax on the beach during the day. By early May, thunderstorms will start dominating the island.

The best places for swimming and sunbathing are the eastern and northeastern beaches. The mountains in the center of the island protect these areas from rain. In April, Jordanian spring turns into hot summer. It takes over the Red Sea and Dead Sea coasts, and every day of the month gets warmer. There are almost no cloudy days. Clouds are rare in the northern parts of the country, and the resort season begins in the south.

A vacation in Turkey in April will appeal to those who don't handle heat well. During the day the air stays warm, but the sea is still cool. Only the hardy go swimming. On the plus side, Istanbul hosts a tulip festival, and the resorts are getting ready for the season.

The warmest place in April is Djerba. The beaches come alive with sunbathers, but the water is still cool. In Sousse, Monastir, and Hammamet the temperature is slightly lower, but rain is rare. A frequent April guest: the hot wind from North Africa that locals call "chili."

In Israel, April is already hot summer. Spring here is short, and the subtropical climate brings warmth and dryness. On one trip you can see the waters of several seas, ancient biblical sites, and the Western Wall. Nights at the resorts are already warm.

In the UAE in April, the weather changes literally every day. During the day the heat builds, and in the evening a pleasant coolness arrives. That makes it easy to walk around. You can get a tan without even noticing, or even get sunburned. April closes out high season; after that it gets too hot.

Of the seven emirates, tourists most often choose Dubai, the main tourist hub of the Middle East. Here you can take in the skyscrapers, go shopping, and spend evenings in restaurants.
