Bulgaria

You have picked Bulgaria, and now you need specific decisions. Which resort suits your trip, which month to go, whether to rent a car, and how many days to leave for cities away from the sea. The country is small, but vacations here vary a lot: the sea in summer, the mountains in winter, old towns all year round. These are the questions people usually bring to this section.

Most of the articles cover the Black Sea coast. We compare the resorts with each other, look at beaches and bathing water quality, and write separately about Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, and Albena. There is an overview of resorts for a vacation with kids: where the sea is calm and what is close to the hotel. A separate piece on July shows where the coast is quiet and where it is crowded. For those still undecided, there is a comparison of Bulgaria and Croatia.

The second big group is hotel roundups. They are grouped by clear features: "all-inclusive" and full board, beachfront location, private beach, on-site water park, kids' clubs and entertainment. In each roundup we explain which criteria to choose by, such as the beach and the meal plan. We do not rank hotels by impressions. We compare them on things that can be checked: location, type of board, facilities for children. Some of the hotels are in the mountains, not by the sea.

Cities and routes take up less space, but they are here. Varna in one day with a route on the map, places in Sofia from the Roman rotunda to Vitosha, Nessebar with kids, the Euxinograd palace near Varna. A short route across the country runs through Tsarevets Fortress, Shipka, and the Rose Valley. The winter part of the section describes ski resorts, including Bansko and Pamporovo, and ski passes. There are also articles on renting a car with the vignette and parking, on the Rose Festival in Kazanlak, on what to bring home from the trip, and on life in Plovdiv for people who work remotely.

Every article opens with a short conclusion: the main point is in the first paragraphs. Then come the practical parts: how to get there, what to buy in advance, where the time goes. Every price and every number has a source and a date when it was checked. We name the downsides plainly: July crowds on popular beaches, noisy resorts, a long way to the sea from some hotels.

The section works for anyone planning a family beach vacation, a ski week, or a short trip around the cities. It is also useful if you are choosing between months: we have breakdowns of June, July, September, fall, and winter. If you need a detailed guide to small towns and mountain trails, there is not much yet. We do not settle visa and insurance questions for you, but we show what to check with official sources.

Start with the overview article about the country: beaches, skiing, and ancient towns in one text. Then read the article on when to go and settle on a season. After that, choose a resort, and only then a hotel that fits your conditions. If the trip is tied to an event, open the article on the Rose Festival first and check the dates. Transport and car rental are best read last, once the route is clear.

Bulgaria is part of the "Europe" section, which belongs to the larger "Destinations" section. The country has no subsections yet, so all articles sit in one list. Next to it are the sections for other countries: "Georgia", "France", "Germany", "Finland", "Denmark", "Belgium", "England", and "Andorra". They follow the same logic, which makes destinations easier to compare.

We update the articles: prices, schedules, and conditions change from season to season. Before each update we check the data against the official websites of resorts, museums, carriers, and government services. If something could not be verified, we say so plainly. Before your trip, still open the original source and make sure the conditions have not changed. That way your plan holds up right until you leave.
