Taxi in Crete: prices from Heraklion and Chania airports in 2026
🚕 Taxi from Heraklion and Chania airports: estimated prices, night surcharge, KTEL buses and car rental, plus tips on…
Read more →The ticket is bought, or nearly bought, and the questions start piling up. You need to work out the full price with baggage and fees, know what to do if the flight is delayed, and decide how to get from the airport to your hotel. The "Flights" category gathers answers to everything about air travel, from picking a departure day to baggage claim. Each article answers one specific question.
The first group of articles is about ticket prices. We look at which days of the week are cheaper to fly, when it makes sense to buy, and why the familiar Tuesday rule does not work. There are pieces on error fares, on European cities with low airfares, and on the rules of flying cheaply around Europe. A separate article covers low-cost airlines on long-haul routes. It shows how to add up the full cost instead of looking only at the base fare.
The second group deals with passenger rights. That means delays and cancellations, cancellations due to weather, lost or damaged baggage, and getting money back for a nonrefundable ticket. We cover the rules of the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States separately, because they work differently. Each article explains when you are owed a payment, when the airline is entitled to cite extraordinary circumstances, and what steps to take right at the airport.
The third group is the largest: getting from the airport to the city. There are articles on Antalya, Istanbul, Madrid, Lisbon, London, Brussels, Split, Dubai, Singapore, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Paphos, Larnaca, Crete, Phuket, Krabi, and Hurghada. In each one we compare the available options: metro, bus, shuttle, taxi, private transfer. We state where to board, how to pay, and how long the ride takes. Another part of the category describes the flight itself: a first flight step by step, flying with an infant, traveling with a pet, connecting on separate tickets, and pre-flight anxiety.
Every article opens with a short answer to the main question, and the details come below. After that there are practical sections: what to prepare in advance, where to go, which documents to keep. Every amount and every fare comes with its source and the date it was checked. We name the downsides plainly: where a compensation claim may be rejected, where a low ticket price turns into extra charges, where the cheap way into town takes more time.
The category is meant for people who arrange their own flights and want to understand the rules before leaving for the airport. It is useful both for a first flight and for an experienced passenger whose flight has just been canceled. If you need a city overview, a selection of hotels, or a plan for several days, those topics live in other categories. We also do not give legal opinions on a particular dispute: we explain the general rules and show where to check them with official sources.
It is convenient to read in the order of the trip itself. Start with the articles on price and timing your purchase, while the ticket is still unpaid. Then move to the piece on getting from the airport at your destination: open it before departure and save it. The articles on delays, cancellations, and baggage are best looked through ahead of time, at least the first paragraph. At the airport there is usually no time for that.
"Flights" is part of the "Trip planning" section and is linked to neighboring categories. Questions about documents for connections and entry continue in "Visas and passports". General preparation methods are collected in "Travel tips", and we follow industry developments in "Tourism news". Articles about the destinations themselves are in "Traveling".
Transport fares, compensation amounts, and airline rules change often. That is why we update the articles and check them against the official websites of airports, carriers, and regulators. If you see an amount in the text, the source and the date it was checked are given next to it. Before your trip, open the original source anyway: it takes a few minutes. That way you arrive at the airport with a clear plan in case something does not go according to schedule.
