The main nuance: Mumbai airport has two terminals, T1 and T2. An international flight arrives at one terminal, while a domestic flight may depart from the other. A bus runs between them; look for the "shuttle" sign. If time is short, take a taxi from the prepaid taxi counter right in the arrivals hall.

A train runs from Mumbai to Madgaon on the Konkan Railway. This is the most economical way to reach the state and also a chance to see the country from the window: the route follows the coast through bridges and tunnels. The train leaves in the evening and you arrive in Goa in the morning, so the night is spent on the road rather than in a hotel.

When buying a ticket, you provide the passenger's age and gender, and seats are assigned based on this information. A husband and wife may end up in different cars, so check your seats right after payment.
