1. Mirage Volcano

Every evening it shot fire and smoke to music, and people came to watch the show for free. The attraction is now gone: the Mirage hotel closed on July 17, 2024, the volcano was dismantled, and Hard Rock Las Vegas is being built on the site with an opening planned for 2027 (as of 09/2026, casino.org).
While construction is underway, there's no reason to make a special trip here. If you were looking for a free evening show, head to the Bellagio fountains a couple of blocks south.

2. Bellagio Fountains
The Bellagio fountains shoot straight out of the man-made lake in front of the hotel of the same name. The jets are lit and synchronized to music: you'll hear Madonna, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, and other hits. It's the best free entertainment on the Strip.
No admission needed, no tickets sold. Evening shows run at short intervals, so you can just wait for the start and stand by the railing (as of 09/2026, visitlasvegas.com). Best spots: the bridge over Flamingo Boulevard and the sidewalk right by the lake.

- The catch: shows are sometimes canceled in strong winds, and the railing area is always crowded.
3. Shark Reef Aquarium

You walk through a glass tunnel directly beneath sharks, with turtles, rays, and piranhas swimming nearby. At certain times, divers feed the sharks right behind the glass.
Tickets are paid even for hotel guests, and the price depends on the selected time slot (as of 09/2026, visitlasvegas.com). The aquarium is open daily, but lines are longer on weekends. Weekend slots sell out, so it's easier to get Shark Reef tickets in advance.

4. Eiffel Tower
A half-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower stands at the Paris Las Vegas hotel and works as an observation deck. An elevator takes you up to the 46th floor to an open terrace with views of the Strip (as of 09/2026, caesars.com). A free light show on the tower runs every 30 minutes from sunset to midnight (caesars.com).
At sunset the deck is packed, but from here you can see the Bellagio fountains and the entire Strip. Observation deck tickets are sold by time, so pick your slot in advance.

5. The STRAT observation deck

The observation deck is open daily from 10:00 AM to 1:00 AM (as of 09/2026, thestrat.com). From the upper level you'll see the entire city and the desert around it.
The rides at the top are Big Shot, X-Scream, and the SkyJump. They run from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM and are weather-dependent (as of 09/2026, thestrat.com). The observation deck ticket is sold separately from the rides (tickets.thestrat.com), and tower and ride tickets can be combined.

- The catch: the tower is far north, so you'll have to drive from the center of the Strip.
6. Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon starts 17 miles (27 km) west of the Strip, and the Scenic Drive loop runs for 13 miles (as of 09/2026, blm.gov). It's a desert conservation area with red rocks and cacti. Along the way there are overlooks, trails, and rock climbing spots.
From October 1 through May 31, you need a timed entry window between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM to drive in: reservations are made on Recreation.gov. Get there at opening time; by midday the overlooks are crowded and there's almost no shade.
- How to get there: only by car or with a tour. Red Rock Canyon tours pick up from Strip hotels.
- The catch: in season you need a reservation and your own car.
7. The Mob Museum

The exhibits tell the story of how the mob financed casinos and turned Las Vegas into a gambling capital. You'll see gangsters' weapons, their clothing, and the famous electric chair.
The museum is open daily from 09:00 to 21:00, and before 11:00 and after 17:00 tickets for out-of-town visitors are cheaper (official museum website). An evening visit will cost you less, and tickets to The Mob Museum can be purchased in advance.
