1. Canary Islands: warm sea all year round
The Canary Islands are called the islands of eternal spring, and you can feel it in October. On Tenerife, daytime air stays in the 19-27 °C range, the Atlantic water is 22 °C, and there are only about three rainy days (as of 09/2026, Canary Islands tourist office).

2. Costa del Sol: the sea next to sightseeing
Costa del Sol stretches along the south of Spain from Nerja to Estepona. In October daytime highs stay around 24 °C, and the water near the shore is still warmed to 20 °C (As of 09/2026, Costa del Sol tourist office).
Busy Malaga and Marbella sit next to quiet small towns. 3. Malta: culture and sea in one vacation

Comfortable water continues into early November, but evenings get cooler. Plan swimming for the first half of the day.
What should I bring for a fall beach vacation?
In October, southern Europe is warm during the day and cool in the evening. Bring a swimsuit, a light windbreaker, and high-SPF sunscreen. In the Canaries and Madeira, comfortable walking shoes will come in handy; in Cyprus and Malta, sandals are enough.
