Royal Palace of Madrid: tickets, hours and what to see
🏛️ Ticket 18 €, over 3000 rooms and the Throne Room: what to see at the Royal Palace of Madrid, hours, closed days and…
Read more →Spain is already chosen, and now the details of the trip need deciding. Mainland or islands, one city or a route through several, a hotel by the beach or an apartment in the center. These decisions shape both the budget and how much time goes on getting around. We have gathered articles that help you make each of them in turn.
City guides are the backbone of this section. Barcelona is covered in the most detail: the main places, museums, Gaudí's architecture, things to do with kids and a piece for people who work remotely. For Madrid there is a three-day plan, for Valencia and Málaga one-day routes, for Bilbao a weekend program. Separate articles deal with places where tickets and entry times matter: the Sagrada Família, the Alhambra in Granada, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, the Nerja Cave and the Caminito del Rey trail.
The second large part is the islands. For the Canaries there are pieces on Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma and La Gomera: beaches, resorts, hikes across volcanoes and through laurel forests. For the Balearic Islands we write about Mallorca and Menorca: quiet coves, areas to stay in, hotels by the sea. The season is covered separately: when to go to the Canaries, what the weather is like there in winter, which of the country's resorts suit which months. The islands differ a lot, and we show that through specific resorts.
Two kinds of articles answer the question of where to stay. The first compare areas: Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastián, Menorca, Fuerteventura. The second pick hotels for a particular purpose, for example all-inclusive ones in Tenerife and Mallorca or ones with their own beach. There is practical material too: eSIM for the trip, ways to get from Barcelona to Madrid, a driving route from Barcelona to the Pyrenees, souvenirs. Events are described as well: Semana Santa in Seville and the carnival in Las Palmas.
Every article opens with a short answer to the main question, and the details follow below. Practical information sits in separate blocks: tickets, getting there, opening hours, location. We check prices and timetables against official websites and give the source and the date of the check next to the figure. We are direct about the downsides: lines, crowds in season, awkward journeys, areas that do not suit everyone.
The section is useful for people who plan on their own and want to compare options before buying tickets. It works for a city weekend, a beach vacation on the islands, a trip with kids and a road trip. If you are still choosing a country, start with the broader overviews in the "Europe" section. Those looking for a ready-made escorted tour will get little from these texts: we do not organize trips, we only describe the options.
It is convenient to read in this order. First the overview of resorts and the articles on the season, to settle on a region and a month. Then the guide to the city or island you chose and the piece on areas to stay in. Finally the sights that need tickets, transport between cities and mobile connection. That way you will not buy museum tickets before deciding which city you are staying in.
Three cities have more articles, and these are placed in subsections: "Alicante", "Granada" and "Valencia". They bring together museums, tours and trips around the surrounding area. Spain belongs to "Europe" within the "Destinations" section. If your route crosses the Pyrenees or continues north, look into the neighboring sections "Andorra" and "France"; "Belgium", "Germany", "England", "Denmark", "Finland" and "Bulgaria" are nearby too.
The articles are updated. Tickets, timetables and visiting rules change from season to season, so we return to the texts and check them against official sources. The section grows as new texts appear. Before your trip, still open the official website of the place you need and check the current conditions: it takes a few minutes and saves you from mistakes on the spot.
